IMPROVED KEYLESS SHAFT HUB LOCKING DEVICES.

Abstract Improved Keyless shaft hub locking device, comprising of one or two taper sp1it cone inner rings wi th drill holes and tap holes an its face, and one split outer ring having a longitudinal slit across its length and hav ing inward taper bore on one end or two opposing inward tapers on both the ends exactly corresponding to the external taper of the taper split cone inner rings, with a step in the centre or on one side of its inside diameter with drill holes and tap holes for fastening the inner rings by the means of high tensile locking screws so as to generate a radial contact pressure at the shaft hub interface, characterised in that, that with the tightening of the screws, the inner rings move further in the outer spIi t ring thereby causing the contact of the inner split ring with the shaft because of the contraction of the inner ring within its slit to grip the shaft and expansion of the outer sleeve because of the longitudinal slit to grip the hub9 thereby translating the clamp loads from a multitude of high strength locking screws into radial contact pressures on the shaft and the hub for a mechanical interference fit without the necessity of a keyway or a spline. Further, characterised that only one inner spli t cone inner ring may be used in a outer sleeve or the inner split cone ring can be directly installed in a stepped hub with taper bore with tapped ha 1 ss so th at th e inner split can e czn be t i gh t en ed w i th i n the hub in such a way that the hub itself acts like the outer sleeve.
