| Abstract | 6-Aminopenicillanic acid (II), a key intermediate for preparation of semisynthetic penicillins, has beeti prepared in high yield using an array of quaternary ammonium and alkylammonium salts of penicillin G /"lb, R » NH4, NH -(CjHgJ-t NH2tCiH7*2-7 B3 8,Jb3trat8 for enzymatic hydrolysis* The process comprises #f treating easily available pure quaternary ammonium and alkylammonium salt of penicillin G solution in phosphate buffer, pH 7»8 with a slurry of immobilised penicillin G ecylase at 37-40 C for about 120 min.to complete the hydrolytic reaction! while maintaining pH around f .6-8 with addition of e base. The product (II), isolated by following the usual procedure of PH adjustment , solvent washing and drying, was obtained in around B6?& yield with desired purity. |
