| Abstract | A process for the preparation of hydroxyapatite powders for applications such as in bioceramics comprising in the steps of : a. dissolving a calcium salt such as .Ca (NO3) 2 in a solvent fol lowed by the addition of ammonia to form a first solution; b. dissolving a phosphate salt such as NH4H2PO4 in a solvent and adding ammonia to form a second solution; c. forming a gelatinous precipiate by adding said first solution at a temperature of 80-100oC to said second solution; d. subjecting said gelatinous precipiate to the. step of stirring for about 24 hrs.; .e. filtering and-washing said genatinous precipitate; f. subjecting said filtered and washed gelatinous precipitate to the step of freeze drying to obtain the hydroxyapatite powders. |
