Title of Invention | AN IMPROVED PROCESS FOR PREPARATION OF COATING COMPOUND ON ARTICLES OR USED IN SHEET FORM |
---|---|
Abstract | The present invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of compound to be used as such in sheet form for coating on articles such as fabrics or papers to obtain articles having improved properties particularly for chemical resistance, outstanding weatherability, resistance to embrittlement and flexibility at a low temperature. The said process comprises blending ethylene octene copolymer having comonomer content of 15 to 35%, ethylene octene copolymer having comonomer content of 30 to 50%, poly butadiene rubber and paraffin oil at a temperature of 90 to 130 °C in a mixing mill for a period of 15 to 60 minutes to obtain the final compound. |
Full Text | - 2 - FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an improved process for preparation of coating compound on articles or used in sheet form, the articles to be coated can be fabrics or papers which will have improved properties particularly for chemical resistance, outstanding weatherability, resistance to embrittlement and flexibility at a low temperature. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION At present in the market and in known art PVC or PVC coated articles such as fabrics or papers and rubber-coated articles are available. These available articles have the following disadvantages: 1. poor chemical resistance; 2. articles are very prone to aging on exposure to sunlight; 3. poor color fastness; 4. non-hygienic. It is, therefore, being a long felt need to produce such a compound, which may be used as such m sheet form coated on articles which obviates the above mentioned disadvantages, - 3- SUMMAMY OF THE INVENTION It has now been found by adopting the process of the present invention a compound is obtained which is used as such in sheet form when coated on articles not only removes the above disadvantages but also have the following additional properties: (i) excellent chemical resistance; (ii) outstanding weatherability; (iil) resistance to embritdement at very low temperature; (iv) light weight; (v) very good flexibility at wide temperature range; and (vi) the coated article is of food grade and hygienic i.e., no derrnatological effect on skin contact. According to the present invention an improved process for the preparation of compound to be used as such in sheet form or for coating on articles, which comprises; blending of ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 15 to 35%, ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 30 to 50%, polybutadiene rubber (3 to 8% of the total weight of the ingredients) and paraffin oil (3 to 8% of the total weight of the ingredients) at a temperature of 90 to 130 °C in a mixing rnill for a period of 15 to 60 minutes to obtain the final compound. During the process for the preparation of the compound wherein ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 15 to 35% is taken in the range of 15 to 75% of the total weight of the ingredients. Likewise ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 30 to 50% is taken in the range of 15 to 75% of the total weight of the ingredients. 4- Similarly poly butadiene rubber is taken in the range of 3 to 8%. Likewise, paraffin oil is also taken in the range of 3 to 8% of the total weight of the ingredients. Desired amounts of known colorants or dyes may be added to obtain desired colors and finally obtaining compound is coated on articles, which may be a cotton/viscose fabrics or a nylon polyester fabrics or a combination thereof or papers. 5- WE CLAIM: 1. An improved process for preparation of coating compound on articles or used in sheet form, which comprises: blending ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 15 to 35%, ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 30 to 50%, poly butadiene rubber (3 to 8 % of the total weight of the ingredients) and paraffin oil (3 to 8% of the total weight of the ingredients) at a temperature of 90 to 130 °C in a mixing mill for a period of 15 to 60 minutes to obtain the final compound. 2. The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 15 to 35% is taken in the range of 15 to 75% of the total weight of the ingredients. 3. The process as claimed in claims 1 or 2, wherein ethylene octene copolymer having Octene content of 30 to 50% is taken in the range of 20 to 50% of the total weight of the ingredients. 4. The process as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein polybutadiene rubber is taken in the range of 3 to 8 % of the total weight of the ingredients. 5. The process as claimed in any of claims 1 to 4, wherein paraffin oil is taken in the range of 3 to 8 % of the total weight of the ingredients. The present invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of compound to be used as such in sheet form for coating on articles such as fabrics or papers to obtain articles having improved properties particularly for chemical resistance, outstanding weatherability, resistance to embrittlement and flexibility at a low temperature. |
