| Abstract | A sanitary pad has a three layer configuration wherein the inner most layer, for contact with the vulva of the wearer, is composed of thin undyed knitted cotton fabric; the middle layer, superimposed on the innermost layer, is composed of a mix of compressed cellulose and gum karaya, the said layer having a thicker distribution of the said material in the centre portion thereof to form a "cushion" for the vulva; the outer most layer, super imposed on the middle layer, is composed of 3M3 non-woven composite fabric. A pair of adhesive coated flaps laterally are fixed to the outer most layer, the flaps being capable of over lapping each other, and engaging with the inner wear of the wearer, to enable the flaps to be adhesively secured together and stay in place with the inner wear of the wearer. |
