LTD. of LOCKS DIVISION PLANT-18 PIROJSHANAGAR, VIKHROLI, MUMBAI - 400 0 79, MAHARASHTRA, India, INDIAN Company hereby declare : - The following specification particularly describes the nature of the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed AN IMPROVED SHACKLE (LOCKING MEMBER) OF PADLOCK This invention relates to the Locking Member (shackle) of Padlock and more particularly to the design and construction of the components. Heretofore , it was known to manufacture the shackle from a one piece round bar fabricated to various shapes matching with the padlock construction , size and shapes. The object of the present invention is to provide a locking member (shackle) with a novel design and construction , simultaneously retaining the strength of the padlock as a whole. Still further object of the invention is to provide locking member (shackle) of novel construction to ease manufacture and lesser weight and simple in operation so that the lock operation i.e. locking and unlocking is easier as compared to existing shackle of solid construction. A lesser weight of the object facilitates easy rotation of key and locking / unlocking . Accordingly there is provided an improved shackle substantially circular / cross section of pad lock comprising a flat semi-circular support plate (1) having plurality of slots (6) provided on its surface to receive guide plates (4) at various orientation. A circular plug (3) securely fitted at the end of the support plate , a round bar guide member (2) integrated with support plate (1) through the rivet (5). The invention will now be described with reference to Figures 1 - 3 in the accompanying drawings . Fig. 1 : is the isometric view of an improved shackle (locking member) of padlock. Fig. 2 : is the basic views of an improved shackle (locking member) of padlock. Fig. 3 : is the exploded view of an improved shackle (locking member) of padlock. There is provided an improved shackle substantially circular / cross section of pad lock comprising a flat semi¬circular support plate (1) having plurality of slots (6) provided on its surface to receive guide plates (4) at various orientation. A circular plug (3) securely fitted at the end of the support plate , a round bar guide member (2) integrated with support plate (1) through the rivet (5). This invention is supposed to be used with well know Disc Locks and can be used with other locks having similar construction. This is an embodiment of the invention. Several modifications are possible which may be considered within the ambit and spirit of this invention. Since many modifications , variations and changes in detail may be made to the above described embodiments. It is intended that all matters described in the foregoing description as described in the accompanying specification. Claim: 1. An improved shackle substantially circular/cross section of pad lock comprising a flat semi-circular support plate (1) having plurality of slots (6) provided on its surface to receive guide plates (4) at various orientation. A circular plug (3) securely fitted at the end of the support plate, a round bar guide member (2) integrated with support plate (1) through the rivet (5). 2. An improved shackle (locking member) of padlock as claimed in claim 1, wherein use of different materials for the guiding member, which can be conducive for heat treatment necessary to impart strength and security to the padlock. 3.
