| Abstract | TITLE: AN IMPROVED HAND PUMP WITH A LIGHT WEIGHT PLUNGER ASSEMBLY. The present invention provides an improved hand pump with a handle for moving a plunger assembly up and down and inside a pump barrel allowing pumped water to escape through perforations in the plunger assembly. The three-part light weight plunger assembly comprises a valve seat, a one way valve arrangement and a valve cage. The valve seat and the valve cage are moulded out of plastic material with the valve seat being screwed on to the valve cage. The improved hand pump besides being easier to operate provides hygienic potable water by eliminating or reducing the chances of contamination from the leather bucket used in a conventional hand pump. |
