Title of Invention

A DEVICE FOR PROJECTING A CLEAN, SMOOTH, CONSTANT DIAMETER SOLID COLUMN OF WATER.

Abstract TITLE: A DEVICE FOR PROJECTING A CLEAN, SMOOTH CONSTANT DIAMETER SOLID COLUMN OF WATER. This invention relaes to a device for projecting a clean, smooth, constant diameter solid column of water comprising a container having an entry poing for water under pressure and an exit point for exit of solid column of water, a deflector disposed radially in the said container to direct the water to flow through a three dimensional plastic mesh disposed centrally in said container, the velocity of said water is successively reduced at said deflector and said three dimensional plastic mesh flow into a chamber disposed at one end of said container to flow out as a solid column of water through a circular aperture having a sharp edge and a shaped chamber.
Full Text This invention relates to a device for projecting a clean,
smooth, constant diameter solid column of water.
PRIOR ART
A conventional nozzle projects a jet of water which almost
immediately after exiting from the nozzle starts to break up
so that the jet or column of water becomes wider with distance
and is also composed of small individual droplets.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Therefore the main object of the present invention of a device
which produces a unique jet or column of water which does not
break up, remains solid and of the same diameter fromthe start
to almost the finish.
3.
According to the present invention there is provided a device
for projecting a clean, smooth, constant diameter solid column
of water comprising a container having an entry point for water
under pressure and an exit point for exit of solid column of
water, a deflector disposed radially in the said container to
direct the water to flow through a three dimensional plastic
mesh disposed centrally in said container, the velocity of said
water is successively reduced at said deflector and said three
dimensional plastic mesh flow into a chamber disposed at one
end of said container to flow out as a solid column of water
through a circular aperture having a sharp edge and a shaped
chamfer.
The nature of the invention, its objective and further
advantages residing in the same will be apparent from the
following description made with reference to the non limiting
exemplary embodiments of the invention represented in the
accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the sectional elevation of the device.
Figure 2 shows the end view of section BB of the device of
DETAIL DESCRIPTION
The device consist of a container (1) of circular shape
whereby water at a certain pressure enters at one point (2) and
the solid column of water exists from another point (3). There
is a deflector (4) which is semicircular in shape and centrally
disposed in the container (1) in front of the entry point(2).
The deflector (4) is axially shifted from the central axis
of the container (1) so that one end of the deflector (4) is
in contact with the inside wall of the container (1) and the
other end is in contact with the outside wall of a chamber having
a plastic mesh (5). The deflector (4) serves two purposes: to
direct the water in one direction and to slow down the velocity.
The water then flows through a three dimensional plastic mesh
(5) which further slows the velocity and removes all turulence.
The water flows out of the three dimensional plastic mesh (5)
into a chamber (6) formed at the end. It then flows out as a
solid column of water (7) through a circular aperture (8) having
a very sharp edge and a specially shaped chamfer.
Additionally, disposed centrally in the container (1) and
near the chamber (6) , the invention includes a separate light
(plain or coloured) such that the light (9) shines through the
solid column of water (7) and it appears as one column of light
or of colour throughout its length. Also by provision of a
suitable mechanism on the outside face of the exit hole (10)
the column of water can be interrupted at variable frequency
such that the column appears to be cut into individual pieces.
The effect is of individual and variable lengths of water being
projected through the air (11).
The invention described hereinabove is in relation to the
non-limiting embodiments and as defined in the accompanying
claims.
WE CLAIM;
1. A device for projecting a clean, smooth, constant diameter
solid column of water comprising a container (1) having an entry
point (2) for water under pressure and an exit point (3) for
exit of solid column of water, a deflector (4) disposed radially
in the said container (1) to direct the water to flow through
a three dimensional plastic mesh (5) disposed centrally in said
container (1), the velocity of said water is successively reduced
at said deflector (4) and said three dimensional plastic mesh
(5) flows into a chamber (6) disposed at one end of said
container (l) to flow out as a solid column of water (7) through
a circular aperture (8) having a sharp edge and a shaped chamfer.
2. The device for projecting a clean, smooth, constant diameter
solid column of water as claimed in claim 1 wherein said
container (1) is provided with a light (a) disposed centrally
near said chamber (6) which shines through the solid column
of water (7) appearing as one column of light.
3. The device for projecting a clear, smooth, constant diameter
solid column of water as claimed in claims 1 and 2 wherein said
light (9) may be coloured so that said column of water (7)
appears as one column of colour throughout its length projected
through the air (11).
4. The device for projecting a clean, smooth, constant
diameter solid column of water as claimed in claims 1 to 3
wherein said column of water (7) is interrupted at variable
frequency such that the column of water (7) appears to be cut
into individual pieces projected through the air (11).
5. A device for projecting a clear, smooth, constant
diameter solid column of water as herein described and
illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a device for projecting a clean, smooth, constant diamter
solid column of water comprising a container (1) having an entry point (2) for
water under pressure and an exit point (3) for exit of solid column of water, a
deflector (4) disposed radially in the said container to direct the water to flow
through a three dimensional plastic mesh (5) disposed centrally in said container
(1), the velocity of said water is successively reduced at said deflector (4) and
said three dimensional plastic mesh (5) flow into a chamber (6) disposed at one
end of said container (1) to flow out as a solid column of water (7) through a
circular aperture (8) having a sharp edge and a shaped chamber.
