Abstract | This invention relates to a nappy monitor system characterised in that said system comprises a unique kind of moisture/urine sensor adapted to be secured with control and logic circuit which is connected to an audio/visual alarm such that to energize the same as and when the sensor gets wet. |
Full Text | This invention relates to a nappy monitor system. The use of nappies is well known. However, the main disadvantage is that the parent do not come to know as to when the nappy is wet and sometime the baby also do not give such indication unless the baby feels irritation due to wetness of the nappy. It is also known that the use of wet nappies is not recommended by the paediatric doctors as the wet nappy is unhygienic: and the infection takes place. Therefore the main object of this invention is to provide a nappy monitor system so as to obviate the disadvantages associated with the prior art. Another object of this invention is to provide a nappy monitor system which gives the alarm to the parents as soon as the nappy gets wet. Still another object of this invention is to provide a nappy monitor system which is very useful and can be used/reused for all kind of nappies. According to this invention there is provided a nappy (4) monitor system characterised in that said system comprises a unique kind of moisture/urine sensor (1) adapted to be secured with control and logic circuit (2) which is connected to an audio/visual alarm (3) such that to energize the same as and when the sensor gets wet. In accordance with this invention the nappy monitor system has a unique kind of monitor/urine sensor which is adapted to be placed in the nappy. The sensor is connected with a control and logic circuit which is connected to an audio/visual alarm such that to energize the same when the moisture/urine sensor get wet. Also an indicator in form of colour change device may be used instead of an audio/visual alarm. Specifically according to this system the moisture/urine sensor comprises a wood/metal or plastic/metal clip and wherein the clip itself acts as a sensor and is a reusable sensor. A nappy monitor system/device according to a preferred embodiment is herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings whereins~ Fig.1 shows a block diagram of nappy monitor system and Fig.2 shows the arrangement of the system in a nappy. Referring to the drawings particularly fig.l, the nappy monitor system/device has a moisture/urine sensor 1 connected with a control and logic circuit 2. Logic. circuit 2 is adapted to be connected with an audio/visual alarm/indicator 3. Reference is now made to fig,2, the sensor 1 is placed in the nappy 4 such that to sense the presence of moisture/urine. The sensor 1 sends the signals to the central circuit 2 placed in the nappy 4. The control circuit 2 process the signals and sends the same to an alarm/indicator 3 provided to enable the parents that the nappy is wet. According to an embodiment the sensor comprises attached pattern at a substrate of a system material such as plastic. According to another embodiment a moisture/urine sensor comprises a conductive thread which is silk wound with copper foil. Further according to an embodiment the moisture/urine sensor comprises two pieces of metallic foils separated by and bound in a specially treated absorbent material. Still according to another embodiment the moisture/urine sensor comprises two dissimilar metal foils separated by a material dipped in an electrolyte to generate sensing voltage. The sensor will be enclosed in a sleeve (not shown) prepared from an absorbent porus fibre this sleeve will ensure that no element of the sensor is in contact with the baby skin. The sleeve can be removed and a fresh sleeve will enable sensor reuse. Thus it is seen that the nappy monitor system of this invention is a new and useful system to be used in the nappies by the parents. WE CLAIM; 1. A nappy (4) monitor system characterised in that said system comprises a unique kind of moisture/urine sensor (1) adapted to be secured with control and logic circuit (2) which is connected to an audio/visual alarm (3) such that to energize the same as and when the sensor gets wet. 2. A nappy monitor system as claimed in claim 1 wherein said sensor comprises a wood/metal or plastic/metal clip wherein said clip acts as a sensor and is a resuable sensor. 3. A nappy monitor system as claimed in claim 1 wherein said sensor comprises attached pattern at a substrate of a system material such as plastic. 4. A nappy monitor system as claimed in claim 1 wherein said sensor comprises a conductive thread which is silk wound with copper foil. 5. A nappy monitor system as claimed in claim 1 wherein said sensor comprises two pieces of metallic foils separated by and bound in a specially treated absorbent material. 6. A nappy monitor system as claimed in claim 1 wherein said sensor comprises two dissimilar metal foils separated by a material dipped in an electrolyte to generate sensing voltage. 7. A nappy monitor system as claimed in any of the claims 1-6 wherein said sensor is disposed in a sleeve such that the sensor is not in contact with the skin of the baby prepared from an absorbent porous fibre. 8. A nappy monitor system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the audio/visual alarm can be replaced with an indicator in the form of colour change device. 9. A nappy monitor system substantially as herein described and illustrated with reference to accompanying drawings. |
