Title of Invention | TWO WAY DISPLAY QUARTZ ANALOG WRIST WATCH MOVEMENT |
---|---|
Abstract | A "Two way display Quartz analog wrist watch movement" is first of its kind in quartz technology. This is achieved by taking the transmission from front side of the movement to rear side of the movement through idle pinion. Generally "Two way display" in a watch is achieved by using two movements, to this exception "Two way display" in this new invention is achieved by few additional train wheels, where source of energy is common and also hand setting can be done with single stem (crown) The feature on one side of the watch is display of time by hours, minutes and date function. On rear side of the watch is display of time by hours, minutes. This development in a single movement is achieved by Taking the drive from front side to rear side through idle pinion. The idle pinion engages with another idle pinion inturn engages with a set of train wheels to have two hands feature on the rear side. |
Full Text | TWO WAY DISPLAY QUARTZ ANALOG WRIST WATCH MOVEMENT Background of the Invention: This invention relates to an Analogs quartz wrist watch movement. Currently two-way display watch (reading of time on two sides of a watch) is achieved by using two movements. This increases the watch thickness and watch will have two independent crowns for time setting, which is very unusual. Also, the power sources are different for each side, the display will get stopped independently. Because of two independent movements, the service will become difficult. Summary of the Invention: The objective of this invention is to overcome these drawbacks by developing two-way display quartz analog wrist watch with a single integrated movement and with a single power source. This object is achieved by the present invention by splitting the stepper motor drive into two, to have two-way display on the both side of a watch. Hence by splitting the drive, using of two-power source, two ECBs, two-stepper motor drive, two different time setting mechanism are avoided. The invention is simple conventional mechanism with adding only few more set of train wheels to have two way display on both sides of a watch. Refer following flow diagram for better understanding Power source ECB Stepper motor drive ^ Train wheels ± I . I Train wheels I I I i Display of time on one side Display of lime on second side other features of the invention will be apparent from the following description, drawings and claims Refer Figure (i) / (ii) - for plan and side views Figure (iii) - for sectional view In order to have display of time on both sides of a watch, the stepper motor drive (transmission) splitted into two drives using idle pinion (1)&(4) Idle pinion (1) engages with Cannon pinion driving wheel (2) on one side of the transmission. Also Idle pinion (1) engages with idle pinion (4) into Cannon pinion driving wheel (5) on other side of the movement with out change In gear ratio. Idle pinion (1) & (2) ensures smooth transmission from one side other side with out loss of time. This ensures same time display of time on both the sided of a watch. Train wheel pivot bearings are provided with jewels to reduce the transmission loss and special stepper motor ensures sufficient power (torque) to drive additional train wheels. WE CLAIM: 1. Quartz analog wrist watch movement having a function of 2 hands (time display) on both sides of a watch. The single drive of a stepper motor is divided into two, to have time display on both the sides of watch and thus achieving the required feature (time display) from a single movement with single power source & time setting mechanism. 2. According to claim 1, the drive of the stepper motor is splitted into two using Idle gears to have time display on the other side of a watch. 3. According to claim 2, the transmission ratio of gear train is doubled from the conventional transmission to achieve higher torque to take care of transmission losses due to additional train wheels. 4. According to claim 3, pulse duration of the IC is modified from 20 seconds to 10 seconds for the rotor to rotate 180 degree to double the transmission ratio. |
