| Abstract | A Schiff Base reaction product is formed by providing a perfume component, providing a primary amine, providing an acid catalyst, providing a solvent, and providing a mild base. The perfume component, the methyl anthranilate and the acid catalyst are combined in the solvent to form a reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is agitated, and then neutralized with the mild base to form a Schiff Base reaction product. A solid laundry detergent composition, especially a solid shaped laundry detergent composition, may also include therein from about 0.05% to about 5% of a Schiff Base reaction product, from about 5% to about 60% surfactant, from about 1% to about 60% builder, and the balance adjunct materials. |
| Full Text | WE CLAIM;- 1. A solid laundry detergent composition comprising: (A) from u.05% to 5% of a Schiff Base reaction product produced by reacting a perfume component such as hereinbefore desonoed with a primary amine having a boiLlu^ point of 125^'C or above and a molecular weight of at least. 80 in a solvent and in the present of an acid catalyst such as hereinbefore described and thereafter neutralizing the reaction product with a mild base such as hereinbefore described; (E) from 5% to 60% of an anionic surfactant; (C) from 1% to 60% of a detergency builder; arid (D) the balance being conventional detergent adjunct materials. 2. A solid laundry detergent composition as claimed in claim 1, comprising: (A) from about 0.05% to about 5% of a Schiff Base reaction product; (B) from about 5% to about 80% surfactant; (C) from about: 1% to about 60% builder; and (D) the balance adjunct materials. 3. The composition as claimed in claim 2, wherein the Schiff Base reaction product is a methyl anthranilate Schiff Base reaction product. 4. The composition as claimed in claim 2, further comprising from about 0.001% to about 5% of an enzyme. 5. The composition as claimed in claim 1 or 2 wherein the solid laundry detergent composition is a solid shaped laundry detergent composition . 6. A solid laundry detergent compositon, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the foregoing examples. |
