---|---|
Abstract | This invention relates to a composition for treating vitiligo and tanning white skin comprising 10-90% solvent, 10-90% sebacate wherein the said sebacate is sodium or potassium salt of the fatty acid or other cation salt of fatty acid and 0.02-0.5% active fragments of bFGF. |
Full Text | This invention relates to a composition for treating vitiligo which is a pigmentry disorder of the skin. The composition is also useful for tanning the white skin without the necessity of exposure to sun. Vitiligo is the patchy depigmentation of skin which affects 1% of the world population. Its incidence was reported to be about 3% of the Indian population. Although not life threatening, it is nevertheless a serious problem, while in young ladies it is life threatening because of the suicidal tendency they develop. The most successful treatment of vitiligo so far is the psoralens and UVA therapy which is based on the observations made in the Atherva veda. However, it requires prolonged treatment as long as one to many years. In addition, psoralens are toxic to liver and carcinggenic. In spite of that it is effective in only 50% of cases. Therefore the main object of the present invention is to provide new composition for treating vitiligo. According to this invention there is provided a composition for treating vitiligo and tanning white skin comprising 10-90% solvent, 10-90% sebacate wherein the said sebacate is sodium or potassium salt of the fatty acid or other cation salt of fatty acid and 0.02-0.5% active fragments of bFGF. In accordance with this invention the composition has 10-90% weight by weight of solvent, 10-90% weight by weight of sebacate wherein the sebacate is sodium or potassium salt of the fatty acid or other cation salt of fatty acid at the ambient temperature preferably at a temperature around 25°C and 0.02 to 0.5% weight by weight selective active fragment of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) mixed with each other thoroughly to obtain the above mentioned composition. The solvent comprises alcohols or glycols. The alcohols are for example, isopropyl alcohol, propyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol. The glycols are for example propylene glycol or polyethylene glycol. The composition is useful for treating vitiligo and or for tanning the white skin according to a preferred embodiment is herein described and illustrated in the following examples. The composition is prepared by mixing 10-90% weight by weight of solvent with 10-90% weight by weight of sebacate at an ambient temperature and pressure, preferably at the temperature around 25°C and 1 atmospheric pressure, and then 0.2% to 0.5% of selective active fragment weight by weight of basic fibroblast growth factor bFGF is mixed with the mixture of solvent and sebacate to get the above mentioned composition. This composition is formed due to synergetic effects of the ingredients of the composition and no chemical reaction takes place in the process. The selective active fragment of basic fibroblastic growth factor used for the preparation of the solution are: 1. bFGF 106-115 2. bFGF 106-120 and; 3. bFGF 1-24 and also their modified forms. EXAMPLE; 70 ml Ethyl Alcohol was mixed with 30 gm sebacate at the temperature of 25°C and 1 atmospheric pressure. 1 gm, 0.5 gm and 0.25 gm of selective active fragment of bFGF were added in the mixed solution of ethyl alcohol and sebacate separately to prepare three samples of the composition and were mixed thoroughly therewith. 25 microlitre of each sample composition applied on the depigmented skin of the Yucatan Pig for 6 weeks end the effectiveness of pigmenting the depigmented skin is shown in figures 1,2 and 3. It is seen that pigmentation was. found to increase with increasing amount. of the active fragment of hFGF mixed in the solution as compared to virtually no pigmentation in its absence as shown in fig.4. I CLAIM; 1. A composition for treating vitiligo and tanning white skin comprising 10-90% solvent, 10-90% sebacate wherein the said sebacate is sodium or potassium salt of the fatty acid or other cation salt of fatty acid and 0.02-0.5% active fragments of bFGF. 2. A composition as claimed in claim 1 wherein said solvent comprises alcohols such as isopropyl alcohol, propyl alcohols or ethyl alcohol. 3. A composition as claimed in claim 1 wherein said solvent comprises glycols such as propylene glycol or polyethylene glycol. 4. A composition for treating vitiligo and tanning white skin substantially as herein described and illustrated. |
