| Abstract | TITLE: A MELT POLYMERIZATION METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF SILOXANE COPOLYCARBONATES AND SILOXANE COPOLYCARBONATES PER SE. A melt polymerization method for the preparation of silioxane copolycarbonates which comprises reacting at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound, a carbonic acid diester, a hydroxhyaryl terminated polydiorganosiloxane and a catalyst, chosed from the group consisting of quaternary; ammonium compound, alkali metal compound, alkaline earth metal compound or combinations thereof, in the presence of a salt, characterized in that the salt in aqueous solution at about 0.1 molar has a pH in the range between about 0 and 7, and the hydroxyaryl terminated polydiorganosiloxane is present in a range between about 0.1 weight percent and about 40 weight percent of siloxane copolycarbonate, (FIG. - nil) |
