OPTO ACID LEVEL SENSOR (PALS ) SYSTEM Title of invention:
Opto Acid Level Sensor (OALS) System
Field of Invention:
Opto acid level system can be used in the field of inverter, UPS and battery charger fields for preventing their led-acid battery from burning due to low acid level condition.
Background of invention with regard to the draw back of associated with known art:
This invention relates to a product used to increase the life of batteries by sensing acid level in led acid batteries. The main draw back of led acid battery is to keep its acid level, for example acid level decrease to the reason's of, if over charging the battery or failure of battery full charge cut of circuit, or vaporization etc. Then the battery will damage or burned out.
At present there is no specific system available to protect the batteries from this drawback. If use with "Opto acid level sensor (OALS) system" it will produce audio sound and displays which shell no of the battery shell contains low acid level and switch off the battery charger circuit.
Object of invention:
The Opto acid level is used to sense acid level in the led acid battery shell(s) and if low acid level/the system will turn off the battery charger circuit and produce audio warning and displays the shell(s) number, which contains low acid level. The system contains a "Opto-clamp" with and light source (visible or invisible), appropriate sensor device, (for invisible or visible light). A floafing indicator electronic circuit for switches and Audio warning and display the shell number and protect the battery.
A summary of invention:
The Opto acid level sensor is used to sense acid level in the led acid battery shell(s). The system contains a light source (Visible or invisible), appropriate sensor devise, (for invisible or visible light), a floating indicator and electronic circuit for switches and Audio warning and display the shell number.
We can use light source and sensing source like infra Red Light Emitting Diode (IRLED) with infra red sensor or IRLED with photo diode, or IRLED with photo transistor, or Light Emitting Diode (LED) with Light Depended Resistor (LDR) etc. It is better to used invisible light like Infra Red as a Light source and infra red sensor at receiving end. Because the external light source do not disturb Infra Red Sensor.

Detailed description of the invention with reference to drawing:
The opto acid level sensor is used to sense acid level in the led acid battery shell(s), and if low acid level, the system will turn off the battery charger circuit and produce audio warning and displays the shell(s) number, which contains low acid level. The system contains a light source (visible or invisible), appropriate sensor devise,(for invisible or visible light),a floating Indicator and electronic circuit for switches and Audio warning and display the shell number.
We can use light sources and sensing source likes Infra Red Light Emitting Diode (IRLED) with infrared sensor, or IRLED with photo diode, or IRLED with photo transistor, or Light Emitting Diode (LED) with Light Depended Resistor (LDR) etc. \t is better to use invisible Light like Infra Red as a Light source and Infra Red Sensor at receiving end. Because the external visible light source do not disturb Infra Red Sensor.
There is only one thing different from invisible light and visible light using from the Opto-acid level sensing system. Using of invisible light source is simpler, because the visible light do not disturb invisible light sensor.
But we can also make the system attractively with backlight for shell number cheaper by using LED and LDR. The external light source disturbed the LDR. So we keep the LDR in a small hole about 2.5 CM of length and diameter of .5CM (5m.m) for small LDR as shown in figj
The Opto-camp, it can be made with or without floating indicator. The object is a small clamp like device that contains two small holes, one for light source and another for sensor devise. As shown in drawing Sheet No.: 2
The internal Circuit of the Opto-Clamp is Shown in drawing Sheet No.:3
Part list from drawing Sheet No.: 3
LR - I - LDR (Small Size)
LE - 1 - LER (Red Colour)
WC - Output Connector to the electronic circuit
Eg. We use LED as a light source and LDR as a sensing device. When acid level of the battery shell decreases the pointer of the floating indicator moves down (in normal condition light source is blocked by the pointer). Then light source is reached to the sensor device and produce signal. This signal is given to appropriate electronic circuit. The electronic circuit will switched on an audio warning circuit and switched off the battery charger circuit and display appropriate shell number.
So we can easily identify the shell number, and easily fill distilled water in the battery shell (s). It is better to use LED and LDR are fit in a adjustable clamp as shown in (Top View) Drawing Sheet No.: 2. Because it is easily to fit and adjust if a battery contains floating indicator. The invention is mainly focused on the field of inverter, UPS and battery charger fields for preventing their led-acid battery from burning due to low acid level condition.

PATENT APPLICATION NO: 700/CHE/2004
The Opto-camp it can be made with or without floating indicator. The object is a small clamp like device that contains two small holes, one for light source and another sensor device.
If the Opto-clamp is made separately, it is better to use LED and LDE are fit in a adjustable clamp as shown in figure one. Because it is easily to fit and adjust if a battery contains floating indicator. The invention is mainly focused on the field of inverter, UPS and battery charger to protect its battery with the help of opto acid level sensor system.
According to the invention, an improved process for increasing the life of Lead-acid batteries using opto-acid level sensor comprising the steps of
a) Forming an assembly comprising a light sensor around the float on top of the lead acid battery.
b) Fixing the battery floating indicator with said light source and sensor in an adjustable clamp or ring.
c) Connecting the said assembly with an electronic circuit for receiving signals from the opto-clamp.
d) Connecting the said electronic circuit with the battery charger on/off circuit to show the low acid level.
e) Displaying the appropriate shell(s) number of battery during low acid level with an audio warning by connecting an audio display unit.

PATENT APPLICATION NO: 700/CHE/2004 Working
LED and LDR are kept in opto-clamp as shown in figure two. The floating indicator pointer moves between LED and LDR when normal condition floating indicator pointer blocks the light from LED to LDR.
When battery acid is at low level the floating indicator pointer also moves down. Then the light from LED falls on the LDR, at that time its resistance will decrease. This signal is given to the electronic circuit by connecting wires. In figured, shows a fixed type opto-sensor with a battery-floating indicator for a standard company battery.
The electronic circuit is used to receive signals from Opto-clamp and switched on buzzer (for audio signal) and display shell number of the battery and turn off the battery charger circuit.
For Eg: A8 volt lead acid battery needs four units of opto sensors and electronic circuit. As shown in drawing sheet no.1. In this circuit variable resister VRI, VR2 and VR4 are used to cut control the gain of the sensing device (Eg.LDR)
L1, L2, L3 and L4 are red LED'S these LED'S are used to display appropriate shell number of the battery. That is depended upon input of the circuit respectively (input 1 for L1, input 2 for L2 input 3 for L3 and input 4 for L4) for Eg: if shell No:1 contains low acid level, the LED L1 will switched on and Buzzer will produce audio warning and the relay will cut off the battery charger circuit.
