Title of Invention | A METHOD OF MANUFACTURE OF DENIM FABRIC AND DENIM FABRIC MANUFACTURE BY THE SAID METHOD |
---|---|
Abstract | A method of manufactLlre of denim fabric comprising the steps of making grey yarn into a warper's beam; characterised by joining a number of warper's beam in sheet form and dyeing it in a paddin~ mangle vinyl sulphone type reactive coloLlrs (20 to 100 .GPL)~ sodiLlm silicate (50 to 200 GPL) sodium hydroxide (10 to 15 ml/litre) and Llrea (50 to 100 GF'L) ~ and winding the same as a dyed loom beam, the said al~(ali and coloLlrs being mixed jLtst prior- to dyeing; fixing' ,and sizing the resulting dyed yarn; weaving the said dyed yarn as warp and grey yarn as weft to prodLtce denim fabric; and washing the same thereafter ~to remove surface colours. |
Full Text | machinery is required for carrying out the former method which is also otherwise cost effective. Another feature of this invention is that while in normal reactive dyeing, grey yarn preparation by mercerising and scouring is necessary, in the method proposed herein grey yarn is directly dyed using reactive colours. The method of manufacture of denim fabric according to this invention comprises the steps of making grey yarn into a warper"s beam, characterised by joining a number of warper"s beam in sheet form and dyeing it in a padding mangle with vinyl suiphone type reactive colours (20 to 100 SPL), sodium silicate (50 to 200 GPL), sodium hydroxide (10 to 15 ml/litre) and urea EXAMPLE Brev yarn is spun usinq rotor spinning or ring spinning. tt is then beamed into a warper"s beam and a number o-f warper"s beams are joined in sheet form. Vinyl sulphone type reactive colours (1B0 BPL> are mixed with urea (100 gpl) The warper"s beam in sheet form is then dyed in a padding mangle with the said mix along with sodium silicate HB^ GPL) and NaOH (10 gpl> and wound as a dyed loom beam. The dyed yarn is stored for 12 hours for fixing, whereafter It ±m sized in a normal sizing machine. The dyed and sized yarn is then woven as warp with grey yarn as weft to produce denim fabric, which is then tiashed to remove surface colours. The terms and expressions herein are of description and not of limitation, there being no intention in the use of such terms and expressions of excluding any equivalents of the features illustrated and described, having regard to the scope and ambit of this invention. -4- I Claim: 1-A method of manufacture of denim fabric comprising the steps of making grey yarn into a warper"s beamj characterised by joining a number of warper"s beam in sheet form and dyeing it in a padding mangle with vinyl Eulphone type reactive colours (20 to 100 GPL), sodium silicate (50 to 200 GPL), sodium hydroxide (10 to 15 ml/litre) and urea (50 to 100 GPL), and winding the same as a dyed loom beam, the said alkali and colours being mixed just prior to dyeing; fixing and sizing the resulting dyed yarn; weaving the said dyed yarn as warp and grey yarn as weft to produce denim fabric; and washing the same thereafter to remove surface colours. 2.A method as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the dyed yarn is stored for 12 hours for fixing. 3.A method of manufacture of denim fabric substantially as herein described with reference to, and as |
