SMART ENERGY METER

Abstract A device, Smart energy meter has two parts. One is base unit and named as meter and the other is remote unit, named as card. Inside the meter the devices are card reader, Load reader, Load Calculator and display Unit. Inside the card there are security codes. A Smart Card (Fig. 1;5) is inserted in the Circuit. A micro controller circuit (Fig. 1,3) and a cut off circuit (Fig. 1,4) is provided. The device does not need any infrastructure for operation. The device is based on Smart Card Technology, performing the functions viz. staring last recharge value, data and smart card number. In case of any claim of the end user, the service provider can verify the relevant Information. The special features of the device include calculation the unit per cost value viasmart card. Also the data of all past reading and other information is available any time. The device works as Smart Card energy meter with high security, accuracy and simple, cost effective assemblage.

TITLE SMART ENERGY METER
This invention relates to invention of a device for measuring electric energy consumed, controlled and computed by an external memory, smart card technique.
BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM
Currently the practice of metering electrical energy is by means of analogue and digital devices. This process comprises of the cumbersome procedure of meter reading and then billing for the no of units consumed. This process has been posing great difficulties the highest and greatest difficulty is securing the reading for units. There is also wastage of energy.

PRIOR ART
There are equipments which are used by energy metering industry which convert electromechanical meter to more accurate solid-state meters. The power-system designers have also incorporated new features for easy meter reading.
There are solid-state meters that measure energy more accurately than electromechanical meter and are capable of being read remotely by the utility company. Also in China there is a prepaid meter system.
SUMMARY
The above problems are overcome by the present invention. The present Smart Energy Meter is a device, which is based on Smartcard Technology. This device comprises of a Meter-controller chip (integrated circuit), unit counting circuit, miniature circuit breaker (MCB), a display (LCD), battery and a safety guard. This device; is capable of reading data, editing the data per unit and allows the energy of the balance amount inside the smart card. This device works as prepaid smart card energy meter.

can be seen the logic circuit of the smart energy meter device the controller circuit (1) energy measuring circuit (2)current transformer (3)cut off circuit (4)the smart card (5),led display and LCD display (6),line coming for the substation (7),to the consumer (8),this circuit enables the device to work on the bases of smart card and memory.

Shows the smart energy meter device in operation. It can be seen that the device ENERGY METER INTEGRATED CIRCUIT use in single phase at home.
By the use of Smart Energy Meter in electric energy consuming and recording place. That is in the place of tradition analog meter, the counting and amount deducting of energy in one stroke is done. The device as whole is a novel invention to simplify the method of energy counting and measuring, at the same time prohibiting theft in electric energy consumption and contributing to planning and estimating the consumption leading to saving energy.

■=> (1) SMART CARD
i; Smart card itself it's own microcontroller... so it's programmed with so many various future... and one of that future is security code, which is most important for anti cloning purpose and also for data encryption purpose of recharge:value. this future is add in smart card by programming software.
SMART CARD READER
Next device in this module is card reader. The Card reader is one of the electronic circuit which has specific slot for card hold n specific card reading contact. This is connecting a smart card to card reader physically. When smart card is inserted in card reader slot, smart card is connected with card reader circuit. And start communication with card reader. Card reader has it's own output function which is compatible with our 'microcontroller.
, After this, reading data from smart card is going via card reader to the microcontroller, which is programming with so many futures. 1) Microcontroller can get data from load reader which is contained with load coil. Load coil can provide data in analog mode as per consumable load. When microcontroller can get data from load reader device it's convert it in digital signal for calculation purpose. Microcontroller has it's own software for this smart energy meter, to compare security codef compare data from card reader and load coil digital output. When microcontroller get data from both end...e.g. from card reader and load Coil. It's start calculation as per software for proper output.
This smart energy meter microcontroller has few outputs. LED, LCD display, Solid state relay, serial port (for energy provider purpose only), buzzer.
•=£> (2) LED (Light Emitting Diode) is display consumed load pulse.
^ (3) LCD Display can display smart energy meter's various conditions.
Solid State Relay can control power oujput to the consunjer end as per smart energy meter's condition, if recharge balance is empty, the output; at ConsumeY end can switch off condition... if load is going to overload condition solidjstate relay can switch off power at consumer end.
■^ (4) MCB is one kind of contact breaker which is control from end user (consumer end)., if smart energy meter user do not want to use energy when they have ' enough recharge and energy output., they can switch off output power with the help of MCB.
•=> (5) BODY OF THE DEVICE: body of this smart energy meter is may be plastic body or it is made from metal, in extreme condition smart'energy meter can housed in metal body.
Serial output is for service provider purpose only to read previous recharge data or previous load of the consumer end. And some other secret function for for service provider company like meter no. smart card no. last recharge value, total recharge value total energy consumption.


CLAIMS
1. A smart energy meter device containing a base -unit called meter and a
remote unit called card functioning to work as prepaid energy meter with a
facility for storing the data of customer with a calculating machine for caculating cost of meter reading.
2. The Smart energy meter as per claim 1, has a security code, meter counting and calculator device .
3. The smart Energy meter as per claim 1, wherein a 'meter containing a card reader, Load Reader, Load calculator device and a display unit.
4. The Smart energy meter device substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
