Title of Invention | "APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REPRODUCING DATA FROM A RECORDING MEDIUM" |
---|---|
Abstract | The present invention relates to structure of a linking area formed between data sections on a high-density read-only recording medium in order to ensure reproduction compatible with a rewritable recording medium. The present structure of a linking area is composed of two linking frames including sync signals individually. This sync signal is different from other sync signal written in a data recording area and/or used for a high-density rewritable recording medium. Moreover, the linking area includes data scrambled with a physical address in its space. |
Full Text | The present invention relates to structure of a linking area formed between data sections on a high-density read-only recording medium in order to ensure reproduction compatible with a rewritable recording medium. The present structure of a linking area is composed of two linking frames including sync signals individually. This sync signal is different from other sync signal written in a data recording area and/or used for a high-density rewritable recording medium. Moreover, the linking area includes data scrambled with a physical address in its space. We claim: 1. A recording medium, comprising: a data area including at least two data sections; and a linking area to link neighboring data sections, the linking area including dummy data. 2. The recording medium as claimed in claim 1, wherein the dummy data improves reproduction compatibility between the recording medium and at least one other recording media type. 3. The recording medium as claimed in claim 2, wherein the at least one other recording media type is a write-once or rewritable type. 4. The recording medium as claimed in claim 1, wherein the dummy data is located in a area of the linking area reserved for user data. 5. The recording medium as claimed in claim 1, wherein the linking area includes at least two linking frames. 6. The recording medium as claimed in claim 5, wherein each of the at least two linking frames includes the same pattern of dummy data. 7. The recording medium as claimed in claim 6, wherein the pattern of dummy data is at least one of "QOh", "01 h'\ "lOh", "08h", "AAh", or "FFh". 8. The recording medium as claimed in claim 6, wherein subsequent and/or preceding linking areas include the same pattern of dummy data. 9. The recording medium as claimed in claim 6, wherein subsequent and/or preceding linking areas include different patterns of dummy data. 10. The recording medium as claimed in claim 5, wherein each of the at least two linking frames includes different patterns of dummy data. 11. The recording medium as claimed in claim 10, wherein subsequent and/or preceding linking areas include the same pattern of dummy data. 12. The recording medium as claimed in claim 10, wherein subsequent and/or preceding linking areas include different patterns of dummy data. 13. The recording medium as claimed in claim 10, wherein the pattern of dummy data is at least one of "OOh", "011T\ "1 Oh", "08h", "AAh", "FFh". 14. The recording medium as claimed in claim 10, wherein each of two linking frames includes pattern of"08h" followed by "OOh". 15. A method of forming a recording medium, comprising: forming linking area to l i nk neighboring data sections of a data area while recording data onto the recording medium; writing dummy data in the linking area to link the neighboring data sections. 16. The method as claimed in claim 15, wherein the linking area includes at least two linking frames. 17. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein each of the at least two linking frames includes the same pattern of dummy data. 18. The method as claimed in claim 17, wherein the pattern of dummy data is at least one of "OOh", "01 h", "lOh", "08h", "AAh" or "FFh". 19. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein each of the at least two linking frames includes different patterns of dummy data. 20. The method as claimed in claim 19, wherein subsequent and/or preceding linking areas include the same pattern of dummy data. 21. The method as claimed in claim 19, wherein the pattern of dummy data is at least one of'OOh", "Olh", "I Oh", "08h". "AAh" or "FFh". 22. The method as claimed in claim 19, wherein each of two linking frames includes patterns of "08 h" followed by "OOh". 23. A method of reproducing data from a recording medium, comprising: u t i l i x i n g a linking area, including dummy data, which links neighboring data sections of a data area, to reproduce the data. 24. The method as claimed in claim 23, wherein the linking area includes at least two l i n k i n g frames. 25. The method as claimed in claim 24, wherein each of the at least two l i n k i n g frames includes the same pattern of dummy data. 26. The method as claimed in claim 25, wherein the pattern of dummy data is at least one of-OOh", "Olh", "10h'\ "08h", "AAh" or "FFh". 27. The method as claimed in claim 24, wherein each of the at least two l i n k i n g frames includes different patterns of dummy data. 28. The method as claimed in claim 27, wherein subsequent and/or preceding linking areas include the same pattern of dummy data. 29. The method as claimed in claim 27, wherein the pattern of dummy data is at least one ol'-OOh", "Olh", "lOh", "08h", "AAh" or "FFh". 30. The method as claimed in claim 27, wherein each of two linking frames includes patterns of "08rT followed by "OOh". 31. A method of recording data on a receding medium, comprising: utili/ing a l i n k i n g area, including dummy data, which links neighboring data sections of a data area, to record the data. 32. 'The method as claimed in claim 31, wherein the linking area includes at least two linking frames. 33. 'The method as claimed in claim 32, wherein each of the at least two linking frames includes the same pattern of dummy data. 34.
