| Abstract | A 1-substituted 4-nitroimidazole compound represented by the general formula (1): (1) [wherein R represents hydrogen, lower alkyl substituted by lower alkoxy, lower alkyl substituted by phenyl(lower alkoxy), lower alkyl substituted by cyano, phenyl(lower alkyl) optionally having as a substituent lower alkoxy on the phenyl ring, or a group represented by -CH2RA; and X represents halogeno or a group represented by S(O)n-R1]; or a salt of the compound. The compound of the general formula (1) is useful as an intermediate for various medicines and agricultural chemicals, especially as an intermediate for antitubercular agents. |
