| Abstract | This invention relates to an intrinsically safe pressure control system (10) for controlling operation of a device (12) placed in a hazardous area (28), the hazardous area (28) having flammable material, a portion of the control system (10) operating in a safe area (30), and a portion of control system (10) operating in a safe area (30), and a portion of control system (10) operating in the hazardous area (28). A controller (52) is located within the hazardous area and exposed to said flammable material, the controller receiving input signals from the safe area (28), lthe controller (52) generating a control lsignal; and a first piezo electrically controlled valve (74) located within the hazardous area (28) and exposed to said flammable material, the piezo electrically controlled valve (74) generating an output pressure in response to the control signal. |
