B. Shastri Marg, Majiwade, Thane 400 601, Maharashtra, India 22-5-2008 THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED:- This invention relates to a stand-up pouch. Normal stand-up pouches are able to be placed in a stand up position in only one side. See for instance, US published patent applications 20040136620, 20040091183 and 20050069230 [no Indian equivalent] which disclose stand up pouches which can be made to stand up on one side only. What is envisaged in accordance with this invention is a Both Side Stand-up Pouch with top and bottom gusset - with or without Flexible Filling Valve for product filing and sealing. These pouches can stand upright on both the sides. According to this invention there is provided a both side gusseted stand up flexible pouch comprising an operative front face portion of flexible laminate material, an operative rear face portion of flexible laminate material side sealed with said front face portion on side vertical edges characterized in that an operative top horizontal gusset is side sealed with the side horizontal edges of rear face portion and front face portion, and an operative bottom horizontal gusset with or without flexible fill valve for product filing is provided , the edges of the said bottom horizontal gusset being sealed with the side horizontal edges of said front face portion and rear face portion of said pouch. As envisaged in accordance with this invention the said pouch stands upright operatively vertically on both top and bottom sides. 2 In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the said pouch is made of flexible laminate rnaterial. The said flexible laminate material is made up of at least two substrates selected from a group of substrates consisting of Pet, Bopp, Poly, CPP, Al-foil, and paper. The said flexible laminate material is made by the combination of two or more material together by adhesive bonding or extrusion lamination. The pouch may be performed or made on a pouching machine or made on a form fill seal machine and with due rotation of 90 degree thereafter. The pouch when filled up to/with brim give rise to unique brick shape. Various modifications are envisaged without departing from the nature and scope of this invention. For instance, the width of said fill opening extends upto the width of said pouch or the said fill opening positioned on the top or bottom gusset has a variable width and height as per predetermined requirements Again, the said filling valve is sealed and tucked inside the operative bottom gusset. The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, which is a schematic view of a both side stand up pouch in which the following reference numerals represent the part identified alongside: 3 Reference Numerals part of pouch identified 1 Fill Valve 2 Bottom Horizontal Gusset 3 Side Seal 4 Top Horizontal Gusset 5 Front Face Portion 6 Rear Face portion 8 Side vertical edges 9 Side vertical edges 10 Side Horizontal Edges 11 side Horizontal Edges Shown in the drawing is a both side gusseted stand up flexible pouch comprising a front face portion (5) of flexible laminate material, rear face portion (6) of flexible laminate material sealed sides (3,9) sealed to the front face portion (5) along vertical edges (8,9). An operative top horizontal gusset (4) is provided whose side is sealed with the side horizontal edges (10) of rear face portion (6) and front face portion (5) An operative bottom horizontal gusset (2) is also provided with or without flexible fill valve (1) for product filing. The edges of the bottom horizontal gusset (2) are sealed with the side horizontal edges (11) of said front face portion (5) and rear face portion(6) of said pouch. 4 It is envisaged that in accordance with a preferred embodiment of this invention the pouch is of a flexible laminate material. The flexible laminate may be made up of two or more substrates of Pet, Bopp, Poly, CPP, Al-Foil, Paper etc or the combination formed together either by adhesive or extrusion lamination process which is then converted into special both side gusseted pouch as mentioned above. The following variations are envisaged in accordance with this invention: PET/ BOPP Flexible Pet of Bopp Film (Printed/ unprinted-Transparent/ Opaque-Plain/ Heat Sealable) PAPER AI-FOIL Paper can be poster/ Maplitho/ Kraft/ Opaque Glassine etc 40 gsm - 100 gsm POLYTHENE/ CPP Polythene Film (Transparent or Opaque) or CPP Film (Transparent or Opaque) Solvent Based - Dry Lamination or Solvent Less Lamination 20 MIC-200 MIC ADHESIVE - 1-10 GSM The laminate for the pouch is typically made by an extrusion process 5 extruded layer or Polyethylene or any other resin thereafter Printing of substrates takes place Or/ And Adhesive or Extrusion Lamination and finally Both Side Gusseted Stand-up Pouch Making LAMINATION MACHINE can be Gravure Coating Type Laminator Or/ And Extrusion coating and Laminating machine The Both side stand up pouch can be either pre-formed on a pouching machine or can be made on a form fill seal machine and due rotation of 90 degrees thereafter. This format of pouch will have two horizontal gussets instead of two vertical side gussets that is there in a conventional stand up pouch. The biggest advantage is that when filled upto the brim, it gives rise to a unique brick shape. It can have the following specifications, 1. 10-12 micron Polyester plain or chemically coated film 12- 3gsm adhesive/ 40- 200 micron natural PE. 2. 15 -25 micron BOPP 12- 3gsm adhesive/ 40- 200 micron natural PE. 3. 10-12 micron Polyester plain or chemically coated film/2-3 gsm adhesive/7-12 micron foil/2- 3gsm adhesive/ 40- 200 micron natural PE. 4. 10-12 micron Polyester plain or chemically coated film/2-3 gsm adhesive/22- 40 gsm paper/3 gsm adhesive/ 40- 200 micron natural PE. 6 The pouches when supplied as pre-formed will have a filling valve that can be, as big as the width of the pouch. After filling, this valve is sealed & tucked inside the bottom gusset. The width, height, gusset depth & the fill valve position & width can be tailor- made to suit the product/customer requirement When supplied in roll form to be made on a FFS machine, the panel positioning is done in such manner that readability is achieved only after the pouch is formed & held/ viewed perpendicular to the direction of the forming. 7 We Claim: 1.
