| Abstract | The present invention discloses a delivery device comprising: a capsule containing a beneficial agent as herein described and an osmotic agent as herein described; a membrane forming a portion of a wall of the capsule, said membrane allowing fluid from an external environment to pass into the capsule by osmosis to create an osmotic pressure in the capsule; a means for applying the osmotic pressure to the beneficial agent; and a flexible plug having therein a slit orifice which is in fluid communication with the capsule, the slit orifice being closed when a pressure of the beneficial agent is less than a predetermined pressure, wherein the capsule has an open end and the plug fits into the open end of the capsule. |
