| Abstract | A line printer having first and second coils (98, 100) for each hammer (68) are wrapped around first and second pole pieces (84, 86), one of which is asymmetrical to the other pole piece. One of the pole pieces (84) can have a generally elongated longitudinal form with the coil (98) wound around the longitudinal form and the other (86) can have a generally arcuate form, with the coil (100) wrapped on a portion between the ends thereof, as shown in Fig. 5. The coil (100) wrapped around the arcuately formed pole piece (86) is thicker than the coil (98) wrapped around the longitudinal pole piece (84), as shown in Fig. 6. The result is to provide coils for a line printer having differing spatial relationships that can be staggered or formed asymmetrically, as shown in Fig. 6, for more compact placement to improve printer efficiency. |
