Full Text FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention generally relates to vertical boring machines. More
particularly, the present invention relates to a multi - angle - settable copying
template with a least count of 0.10° adaptable to vertical boring machines having
copying capability.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
At present angular surfaces are developed on vertical boring machines by using a
copying template. For every developed surface angle, a separate template is
required. This leads to extra cost and time including intermittent hold - up in
production due to non - availability of the exact template at appropriate time. It
is known in the art that clamping of each template on the machine and
unclamping the same after machining requires substantial time. Accordingly, a
high level of inventory of the templates is required to be maintained which leads
to additional cost in the form of storage, space, preservation and periodic
calibration.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to provide a multi-angle settable copying
template adaptable to vertical boring machine having copying capability which
eliminates the disadvantages of the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a multi-angle settable
copying template adaptable to vertical boring machines having copying capability
which can be used for all angular surfaces with a least count of 0.1°.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a multi-angle
settable copying template adaptable to vertical boring machines having
copying capability which eliminates the need for maintaining a large
inventory of templates leading to lower cost and reduction in machine
idle time.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a multi-angle
settable copying template adaptable to vertical boring machines having
copying capability which requires to be mounted on the machine once
thus eliminating the additional time needed for repeated clamping and
unclamping.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide a multi-angle
settable copying template adaptable to vertical boring machines having
copying capability which has longer useage time.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, there is provided a multi-angle-settable universal copying
template with a least count of 0.1° adaptable to vertical boring machines
having copying capability, the template comprising a base plate having
atleast three pair of holes configured thereon, the base plate being
mountable on the machine via the first pair of holes; a guide releasably
fixable on the base plate via the second pair of hole by means of a flat
counter sunk rivet; a vernier scale detatachably attachable via the third
pair of holes on the base plate by means of a rivet; characterised in that
a template clamped via first singular hole configured on the base plate to
guide, rotate and fix template at desired angles with the help of fixing
and moving means a second singular hole configured on the base plate to
clamp the template at desired angles with the help of second special
screw and the wing nut.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Figure 1(a) - Shows a universal copying template according to the present
invention.
Figure 1(b) - Shows the template set on a vertical boring machine.
Figure 2(a), 2(b) - Shows the base plate of the template according to an
embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OP A PREPERRED EMBODIMENT OP
THE PRESENT INVENTION
Figure 1(a) shows the template which comprises a base plate (1) releasably fixed
on the boring machine. A guide (3) Is fixed on the base plate (1) by means of a
float counter sunk. A vernier scale (12) is attached via a rivet (11) on the base
plate. A rotatable template (10) fixabty disposed via a grub screw (4), a first
special screw (5), a bush (6), a wing nut (9), and a washer (7). The template
(10) is clampable at different angle by means of a second special screw (8) using
the wing nut (9).
Figure l(b) shows that
• while setting the template (10) on the vertical borer, 0-0 should be
coincided and the template (10) is to be set with the edge 'A' vertical or
the edge 'B' horizontal of the machine.
• The wing nuts are tightened before using the template (10).
• Zero of the vernier must coincide with zero of the main scale of the
template while fitting the vernier plate on the base plate and should be
normal to the face 'C'.
• For angles with vertical and less than 45°, the edge 'A' is to used.
• For angles with horizontal and less than 45°, the edge 'B' is to be used.
As shown in Figure 2, the base plate (1) is fixed with the machine using a first
pair of holes (H1) with the help of fixing bolts (not shown in drawing).
A second pair of holes (H2) provided on the base plate (1) for fixing the guide (3)
by using the flat counter sunk (2).
A third pair of holes (H3) provided on the base plate (1) for fixing the Vernier
scale (12), with the help of the rivet (11).
A first singular hole (hi) is provided on the base plate (1) to guide, rotate and fix
the template (10) at desired angle with the help of the fixing and moving means
(4, 5, 6, 7 and 9).
A second singular hole (h2) is configured on the base plate (1) to clamp the
template (10) at desired angles with the help of the second special screw (8) and
the wing nut (9).
The universal copying template adapts the Vernier scale (12) which is used with
9° angle divided in 10 equal parts for setting accuracy of 0.1°. The base plate (1)
with two holes (H1) is used for easy mounting on the vertical boring machine.
The template (10) is made of hardened alloy steel for wear resistance and longer
life.
