Title of Invention

A SUPPORT FOR A READYMADE LAWN

Abstract ABSTRACT "A support for a readymade lawn". This invention relates to a support for a readymade lawn comprising a layer of netting material of a single or plurality of non woven layers, a coir pith layer on said non woven layer, a layer of organic manure produced from coir pith.
Full Text

This invention relates to a support for a readymade lawn wherein the readymade lawn has grass supported on a blanket of coir.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Readymade lawns are known in the art which are normally used for laying of tennis courts. However, such lawns including grass are made of synthetic material. As grass on such lawns is also of a synthetic material, it would be apparent that it is not comparable to agricultural or natural grass. Due to a such limitation, such lawns have a limited application and further, do not possess the same aesthetic or feel properties as agricultural or natural grass.
Readymade lawns with natural grass are not hitherto known.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose a novel construction of a support for a readymade lawn.
Another object of this invention is to propose a support for a readymade lawn of natural grass and made essentially of natural products.
Still another object of this invention is to propose a support for a readymade lawn of natural grass, which can be easily rolled and shifted from one location to another.

Yet another object of this invention is to propose a support for a readymade lawn of natural grass which ensures a complete drainage of water.
A further object of this invention is to propose a support for a readymade lawn of natural grass, which can be laid on any surface.
A still further object of this invention is to propose a support for a readymade lawn of natural grass, which is simple in construction.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided a support for a readymade lawn comprising a layer of netting material of a single or plurality of non woven layers, a coir pith layer on said non woven layer, a layer of organic manure produced from coir pith.
As will be apparent from the ensuing description the readymade lawn of the present invention is of a soilless medium. For this purpose, the lawn comprises a netting material made of coir. If required, such a netting may be placed on a sheet made of any suitable plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene. A single or a plurality of layers of a non-woven fabric is provided on said netting, said non-woven layers comprising thickness or bulk properties to the lawn. Yet another function of the non-woven or layers is to allow the grass roots to form a bush and get entangled in the non-woven material.

Preferably, the woven layer is non woven coir and having a density of 400-1400
gms/m.
A layer of coir pith is provided on the non woven layers, which adds to the bulk
properties of the lawn. Further, such a layer of coir pith forms a support or bed for grass.
Grass is planted on the layer or bed of coir pith and coir pith manure is sprinkled thereon to form a layer on said bed. Initially, such coir pith manure is required to sustain the grass. However, as the bed and the non-woven layers are biodegradable in nature, nutrients are released and absorbed for the farther growth and sustainance of grass.
The treated coir pith comprises a layer of mushroom seeds sandwiched between layers of pith, an upper layer of urea provided on the layer of pith. Such a treated coir is allowed to mature till the weight is substantially reduced as lignin is consumed by fungi or mushroom seeds. Such a treated coir releases nutrients such as phosphorous, nitrogen and potassium.
If required, hydro calcium nitrate may be applied as a fertilizer.
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing and wherein.
Fig. I shows a sectional view of the readymade lawn of the present invention. Referring to Fig. 1, the readymade lawnL of the present invention maybe in the firm of a Tollable blanket and which can be laid- on any surface. One of the advantages of the present invention is that the lawn L can be laid on any arid surface or even concrete, as the surface only forms a support for the blanket and without contributing to the sustainance of grass.

The lawn comprises a layer of netting N made of a biodegradable material such as coir. A support sheet SS may be provided for said netting, a single or a plurality of layers of non-woven layers of coir NW is provided on said netting. A layer of coir pith CP is supported on said non-woven layers. Natural grass NG is planted on said non-woven layers and treated coir pith TCP is sprinkled thereon.

WE CLAIM:
1. A support for a readymade lawn comprising a layer of netting material
of a single or plurality of non woven layers, a coir pith layer on said
non woven layer, a layer of organic manure produced from coir pith.
2. A support for a readymade lawn as claimed in claim 1 wherein said
layer of netting material is made of coir.
3. A support for a readymade lawn as claimed in claim 1 wherein said
non-woven layer is of coir.
4. A support for a readymade lawn as claimed in claim 1 wherein a sheet
is provided to support said netting.
5. A support for a readymade lawn substantially as herein described and
illustrated with reference to accompanying drawings.
