Full Text | FORM - 2 The Patent Act, 1970 (39 of 1970) COMPLETE SPECIFICATION. (Section 10; Rule 13) "AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROLLING AND RECORDING SYSTEM FOR PRE/POST HEATING APPLICATIONS". M/S. LARSEN & TOURBO LIMITED (An Indian Joint Stock Company Registered under the companies Act, 1956) having address at Heavy Engineering Division, Hazira Works, Surat Hazira Road, P.O. Bhatha, Dist-Surat, GUJARAT - 394 510, INDIA. The following specification particularly describes the nature of this invention & the manner in which it is performed: 93/MUM/2003 GRANTED 30-6-2008 1 6 APR 2008 Basting practices ;- Some of the conventionally used devices for pre / post heating of weld -joints are gas burners, manually operated pressure regulators, hoses, hose clamps, temperature sticks etc. The major drawbacks of these methods Is that, all the above mentioned methods use contact -type mechanism. The temperature measuring sensor actually touches the body of the object under test. Hence these methods can not be used for temperature measurement and control of continuously rotating objects. In the above methods of ccnventionally heating weld joints, the temperature achieved at the weld Jdnt can not be controlled accurately. Because this temperature Is not monltored on display. Improper temperature may result Into improper weld joint. Also weld quality fs affected. Manualiy pre or post heating each weld joint separately, consumes a large time, This causes wastage of nan-hours and decreases productivity. The above mentioned conventional methods do not provide any mechanism for recording of temperature, Since digital display of temperature Is not provided In these methods temperature sticks have to be used for measuring temperature. Moreover, conventional methods do not provide any facility to adjust tne errissrvity for various surfaces. They donct provide any means of setting upper and lower temperatures limits. They are not connected to any industrial buzzers to gtve warning In accidental cases. The presert invention "Automatic Temperature controlling and recording systems of pre/ post beating applications" has fcr Its principal objective to provide an automatic mechanism for accurate ccntrdling and recording of temperature. Some of the other objective are as mentioned below. The system to be developed should have non-contact type terrperature measuring mechanism It should be suitable for measuring and catraling temperature of a continuously rotating object. The system should have a facility of setting upper and lower temperature limits. It should provide certain range for terrperature controlling and -ecording. The system should also have a facility to adjust emissrvrty for various surfaces. Some recording mechanism should be incorporated in tne system A" simpie pressure sensitivity paper can be used fa this purpose. The system should be very accurate, both In measuring and recording of the temperature. The accuracy should not be less than +1% of the reading. Technical Details;- The present invention "Automatic Temperature cantrolling and recording system for pre / post heating applications" is designed with a goal of providing accurate heating of weld Joints to Improve held quality. The new Invention is designed in such a way, so as to have higher speed and hence increased productivity it eliminates all the drawbacks of existing systems and fulfills all the desired objectives. The system Is successfully designed and perfected. This has been possible only after doing extensive research and trials. The present invention "Automatic Temperature controller and recording system for pre / post heating applications" will now be explained in details with the help of accompanying diagrams. Figure 1 shows the front panel of the system Figure 2 shows flow diagram of the process. Figure 1(a) Illustrates Infra-red sensor prccessor 1, PID controller 2, Temperature recorder 3, Gas headers - ON/OFF 4, Gas headers 5. Figure 1(b) Illustrates rigid base 6, Infra Red Sensor 7. Figure 2 illustrates steps 1 to 6 of the flow diagram The system consist5 of an Infra-red sensor (7) for sensing the temperature. As illustrated in step 1 of figures 2, this IR sensor can accurately sense temperature of an object of which Is 1 meter away from It. A fine laser beam Is used to decide the fixing of the IR sensor. The sensor Is mounted on a rigid base (6) at distance of approximately 1000mm from the object under test. As Illustrated In step 2 of Figure 2, the tenperature sensed by the IR sensor is given to a prccessor (1). The processor-converts the data into appropriate voltages. These voltages are then passed to a temperature controller (2) for controlling purpose (step 3). The temperature controller, which is a RD controller (2), maintains these voltages within a specific predetermined range. The range can be any values between 0° C to 500° C. it avoids any under voltage or over voltage conditions (step 4). The output of the RD controller is given to solenoid valves, which then operate to control the temperature (step 5). The same output Is given to a temperature reorder (3). The recording system Is a pressure sensitive paper., which can record a temperature from 0° C to 600° C (step 6), The system can record and control the temperature within a range of 0° C to 500o C with an accuracy of + 1 % of reading. Benefits ;- The present Invention "Automatic Temperature controlling and recording system for pre post heating applications" has many advantages as compared to the conventional heating methods. Some of them are highlighted in the paragraphs that follow. It provides automatic temperature controlling and recording, and eliminates manual errors in conventional methods. It lias a unique design. The system provides a way of non-contact type measurement carried out by using a remote infra - red temperature sensor. This feature enables the system to measure and control the temperature of a continuously rotating object. The system provides real time temperature recording on a pressure sensitive paper. Moreover it eliminates the need of igniting business after power failure or reset. The system provides an accurate mechanism for temperature control with an accuracy of +_1%of reading. It supports a wide range of temperature, which is from 0° C to 500° C. The system provides a digital display to display temperature which eliminates the use of temperature sticks for terrperature measurement. It provides the facility to adjust the errissivity for various surfaces. Also the facility to set upper and lower Units of temperature for alarms is prcvided. It due to any reason, the temperature goes beyond the set range (under or over temperature condtlon), Industrial alarms are provided for warning purpose Further a fine laser beam is provided to decide the fixing of the infra-red temperature measurement sensor. The system improves weld quality. It reduces man-hours and increases productivity. We Claim 1) A system for automatic controlling and recording of temperaturefor pre-heating and post-heating applications with an accuracy of +/- 1 % of the reading comprising an Infra Red sensor for non contact type measurement, a processor to convert data reseived from said infra, and sensor into appropriate magnitude of volts, a laser generator which produces a fine laser beam for deciding the fixing of Infra Red Sensor, a PID controller for maintaining temperature in predetermined range, solenoid valves activable/deactivable depending on output of PID controller and a temperature recorder for recording temperature of the surface. 2) A system as claimed in claim 1 where in the Infra Red sensor for non-contact type measurement can sense temperature of a rotating object, which is 1000mm away from it 3} A system as claimed in claim 1 where in the processor converts data received from Infra Red sensor into appropriate magnitude of volts and it also provides a way for adjustment of emissivity for various surfaces. 4) A system as claimed in claim I wherein said PID controller is having a range of 0° C to 500°C 5) A system as claimed in claim I where in solenoid valves are activated or deactivated depending on output of PID controller and also, status of gas Header On/Off switches and said valves control flow of gas to burners. 6) A system, which is claimed in claim 1 wherein, said temperature recorder is having a range of 0* C to 600° C and using » pressure sensitive paper. 30 JUL 2008 |
