| Abstract | Dandruff is a scaly condition of the scalp. Different modes of intervention for alleviating dandruff condition are in practice. Applications of inhibitors of epidermal proliferation, keratolytic agents, anti mycotic agents are described as efficacious approaches for mitigating dandruff. A number of pounds inhibiting Malassezia furfur such as, for example, Zinc pyrithione Amphotericin 13, Nystatin, Ketoconazole and Climbazole are now known to be useful in mitigating dandruff. There is a growing return to nature trend in personal care and hygiene. Environment friendly and renewable resource based interventions are increasingly preferred globally in many areas of health and hygiene. This invention discloses certain synergistic blends of plant extract compositions for inhibiting M.furfur (Syn. eg. Pityrosporum ovate) comprising extracts of two or more plant species from a group of four viz., iflora Linn and Datura rrtetet Linn, Murraya koenigii (L) Sprengel, Lippia. nod Murraya, Lippia and Wrightia tinctoria (Roxb.) R.Br. from the genera Datum, Wrightia for anti dandruff application as active ingredients in a suitable delivery system for scalp and hair oils etc. |
