Abstract | This invention relates to a method for producing a peptide in a host cell comprising: a) expressing a nucleic acid in the host cell, wherein the nucleic acid encodes a fusion polypeptide lacking charge balance comprising i) at least one carrier polypeptide linked by a cleavable linker to ii) at least one peptide multimer lacking charge balance, the peptide multimer containing at least two antimicrobial peptide units, wherein each peptide unit is linked in tandem to another peptide unit by a cleavage site, and b) cleaving the multimer at the cleavage site, wherein the host cell is Pseudomonas fluorescens. This invention also relates to an expression vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding the fusion polypeptide. |
