Full Text | FIELD OF INVENTION This invention relates to a endotracheal and tracheostomy tube to prevent tracheal stenosis and tracheomalacia. BACKGROUND OF INVENTION Endotracheal tubes presently known in the art comprise a single tube having a distal end inserted within the trachea of a patient and a proximal end connected to a ventilalor. The distal end of the tube has a cuff which is inflated after insertion of the tube into the trachea. Such an inflation of the cuff prevents escape of gases and oxygen and, further, fixes the tube within the trachea. To cause an inflation of the cuff, a thin lumen tube is connected to the endotracheal tube. For this prupose, the thin lumen tube is connected at the proximal end to a chamber with a valve. Thus, a syringe injects air to the chamber, which flows to the tube and allows an inflation of the cuff and such as to allow the cuff to be against the trachea of a patient. As described hereinabove, an endotracheal tube is inserted through the mouth of a patient. In distinction, a tracheostomy tube known in the art. Similarly has a distal and proximal end, and where the proximal end is connected to a ventilator. The distal end has similarly an inflatable cuff so as to fix the tube within the trachea of a patient. However, a tracheostomy tube is introduced by inserting a slit in the throat of a patient. Several distinct disadvantages are associated with such the known construction of endotracheal and tracheostoiny tubes. One such disadvantage is that the inflated cuff is constantly applying a pressure on a localized region of trachea of a patient causing tracheal stenosis and tracheomalacia. Another disadvantage is that whenever a patient turns the head, it causes shear forces at the cuff region adding to avascular necrosis of mucosa and submucosa. Still further, a continuous pressure of the cuff against a localized region of the trachea also contributes to avascular microsis of mucosa and submucosa. Yet another object of this invention is to propose an endotracheal tube and a tracheostomy tube which avoids a constant pressure from being applied to the same region of the trachea. A further object of this invention is to propose an endotracheal tube and a tracheostomy tube which avoids shear forces at the cuff of the tube. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION According to this invention there is provided an endotracheal and tracheostomy tube to prevent tracheal stenosis and tracheomalacia comprising, a first tube with a distal end adapted to be inserted within the throat of a patient and having at least a first and second expandable cuffs, a second or intermediate tube rotatably joint at one end to said first tube, a third tube rotatably joint at one end to said second tube, said third tube having a proximal end, said first tube having at least a first and second expandable cuff and adapted to be connected to a ventilator. V) a first tube having a distal end adapted to be inserted within the throat of a patient iif) a second or intermediate tube rotatably held at one end to said first tube iidf) a third tube rotatably held at one end to said second tube, said third tube having a proximal end adapted to be connected to a ventilator iv) said first tube having at least a first and second expandable cuff and adapted to be connected to the ventilator, Further according to this invention there is provided a tracheostomy tube comprising a first tube having a distal end and adapted to be inserted within the throat of a patient, a second tube rotatably held at one end to said first tube, said first tube having at least a first and second expandable cuff and adapted to be connected to a ventilator. In each of the aforesaid constructions, the first tube having the distal end is rotatably held to the adjoining tube. Thus, any turning of the head, does not cause any shear force to the cuff regions. CLAIM; 1. An endotracheal and tracheostomy tube (1) & (20) to prevent tracheal stenosis and tracheomalacia comprising, a first tube (7) with a distal end (2) adapted to be inserted within the throat of a patient and having at least a first (12) and second (13) expandable cuffs, a second or intermediate tube (9) ro ta tab ly joint (8) at one end to said first tube, (7), a third tube (11) rotatably joint at one end to said second tube, said third tube having a proximal end (3), said first tube having at least a first (12) and second expandable cuff (13) and adapted to be connected to a ventilator (14). 2. An endotracheal and tracheostomy tube (1) as claimed in claim 1 wherein said tracheostomy tube (20) comprises a first tube (21) having a distal end (24) and adapted to be inserted within the throat of a patient, a second tube (22) rotatably held at one end to said first tube (21), said first tube having at least a first (27) and second (28) expandable cuff and adapted to be connected to a ventilator (29). 3. An endotracheal tube (1) as claimed in claim 1 wherein said first tube (7) is disposed along the laryngeal axis. 4. An endotracheal tube (1) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the second tube (9) is disposed along the pharyngeal axis. 5. An endotracheal tube (1) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the third tube is disposed along the oral axis. 6. An endotracheal tube (1) as claimed in claims 1 and 2, wherein said joints are rotatable joints. 7. An endotracheal and tracheostomy tube (1) substantially as herein described and illustrated. |
