Title of Invention

"AN IMPROVED MULTINET INSECT TRAPPING DEVICE"

Abstract This invention relates to an improved multinet insect trapping device. The device has a plurality of conical nets provided rotatably on a nylon rope. A split metallic bush is provided below each of the said nets to keep the nei in its position at a predetermined height. Nylon split bush are provided on the diagonally opposite ends of the mouth of said nets to keep the ents in the rotatable position on the said nylon rope
Full Text This invention relates to a improved multinet insect trappinq device. The device is used for trapping airborne insects present in the oceanic environment,,
Insects trappinq on the ocean is known in the art,, One of the devices used for trappinq airborne
insects comprises trappinq sheats having adhesive coatinq/wet paint on the front side thereof. The main
disadvantage associated with such devices is that the insects cannot he removed easily from the sheet and are
damaqed durinq the removal process,,
Another device used for trappinq airborne insects on the ocean comprises a plurality of nets secured with a complicated system of small ringlets which are secured to a metallic chain. Another chain is provided for installing the device on the ship used for trappinq insects,, The main disadvantage associated with this device is that skilled persons are required to install the device on the ship.
Still another disadvantage is that the device is very heavy in weight and a number of persons are required for installing and operating the device,,

Still another disadvantage is that the plurality of ropes are required for installing the device on the ship. As a result the direction of the nets remains fixed and insects are not trapped when wind direction is not parallel to that of the device.
Therefore the main object of this invention is to propose a novel multinet insect trapping device which obviates the disadvantages associated with the known devices.
Another object of this invention is to propose a multinet insect trapping device wherein a single rope is required.
Still another object of this invention is to propose a multinet insects trapping device which is light in weight and can be installed and operated easily by a single person.
According to this invention there is provided a improved multinet insect trapping device characterized in that a plurality of conical nets being provided rotatably on a nylon rope, a split bush being provided below each of the said nets to keep the net in its position at a predetermined

height, nylon split bush are provided on the diagonally opposite ends of the mouth of said nets to keep the nets in the rotatable position on the said nylon rope.
In accordance with this invention the nylon nets are mounted rotatably on a nylon rope. Nylon split bush are provided on the mouth of the said nets for securing the nets rotatbly on the rope. Metallic split bush is secured with the rope below each of the said nets to keep the net in position at the predetermined height. A pulley adapted to be secured with the net holding bridge of the ship, being provided for installing the device on the ship during the insect trapping process.
An improved multinet insect trapping device according to be preferred embodiment is herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 shows the multinet insect trapping system known in the art.

Fig. 2 shows the multinet insect trapping device of the p r e s e n t i n v e n t io n ,

Referring to the drawings fig,, 1 the multinet trapping system known in the art comprises a
plurality of nets .1. which are secured with each other by means of a complicated system of metal rings and small
ringlets 2 provided for securing the nets with a rope 3. This system is not successful as the system has so many

Reference i.s now made to fig., 2 the multinet
insect trapping device of the present invention comprises a plurality of conical nets 4 adapted to be
secured with a nylon rope 5 rotatably,, The nylon split bush 6 (fig., 4) are provided on the diagonally opposite
sides of the mouth of the conical nets 4. A metallic bush such as aluminium bush is secured with the nylon
rope below each of the said nets 4 to keep the net in position at the predetermined height The nylon bush 6
as shown in fig. 3 comprises a pair of C section 7 being secured with each other by means of a U bolt 8, A set
screw 9 is provided for Lightning said C sec tion/spl i t parts,, A central hole 10 is provided at the centre of

said C sections so as to provide a central hole for
pas B i. n g t he n y 1 on rope ther e t h r oug h . The meta11ic bush as shown in fig,, 4 comprises a cylindrical body 10
having a central hole 11 therethrough A channel/slot 12 is provided at one side of said body 10 for
tightening the grip of the body 10 on rope of the device by means of a circlip 13 provided around the central
channel 14 of the said body 10„ A pulley 12 (fig.2) adapted to be secured with the net holding bridge of the
ship is provided for facilitating the installation of the device on the ship„
