Title of Invention

"A POUCH FOR STORAGE AND DISPENSING OF LIQUIDS AND A PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING OF THE SAME"

Abstract This invention relates to a pouch for storing and dispensing of liquids characterized in that the pouch is formed from a single sheet and to constitute a first fold (4) raised from a second (5) and third fold (6) the first fold (4) being in a direction opposite to said second (5) and third (6) folds, such folds providing a front and back side (2,9) being sealed to each other to the lower and of said pouch having inclined sides.
Full Text This invention1 relates to a storage pouch for storage and dispensing of liquids and other granular or powder materials.
r
Thus, the invention also realtes to a method of manufacture of wwid pouch.
Pouches for storage tind dispensing of liquids are known In the; art and comprise a freont sheet adhered to a back sheet along the vertical sides. The pouch comprises a further third sheet compri¬sing a base sheet adhered to the lower end of the front and back sheet.
In distinction to une known pouch, the pouch of the present
I ,
invention is formed frrom a single shee.t.
An abject of this invention is to propose' an improved construc¬tion of a storage pouch.
Another object of this invention is to propose an improved method of manufacturing a storage pouch.
DESCRIPflON WITH REFERENCE TO DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more
l
apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction
with the accompanying drawings and wherein :
Fig.l shows a front view of the pouch of the -present invention;
Fig.2 shows a side view of the pouch;
Fig.3 shows a top and bottom view; an
Fig.4 shows a perspective view.
Referring to the drawings, the pouch 1 comprises a front sheet 2 and a back sheet 3 formed from a single sheet. The process cam-
i '
prises in forming a first fold 4 from a sheet fed from a roll. The
first fold 4 is raisecl so as to form secondary folds 5 & 6. The
i raising of the first fcjld 4 provides a front gusset 7 and a rear
gusset 8 and such thai; front gusset 7 is spaced from the rear
gusset 8 by first fold
4. Front gusset 7 is formed by front sheet
2 extending from first jfold 4 to second fold 5 and the inner fold
i sheet 9 extending upujardly from fold 5 to first fold 4. In a
j
likewise manner, rear ousset 8 is formed by back sheet 3 extend¬ing downwardly from first fold 4 to secondary fold 6 and to the
\ f
inner sheet 10 formed by the upward' extension from fold 6 to fold
f
4. . -
In accordance w.ith this invention, the vertical sides of the front and back sheets 2 & 9 of gusset 7 are sealed along the
/
vertical edges. Further, of the front gusset 7, the seal of the vertical , edges extends to the base 10 at secondary fold 5. Similarly, the vertical edges of the back gusset 8 are sealed, and the seal extends to the base 12.
The corners 16 formed between the base 11 of the front and rear gussets 7 & 7 are cut so as to form an inclined wall. In a like¬wise manner,'an inclined cut is provided between one of the ver¬tical sides 14 of pouch 1 and its upper side 15 for allpwing a spout to be held in a sealed relationship thereto. For matter of convenience, the spout is not illustrated dn Fig.l. Once the
•filling operation is completed within pouch 1, the upper side 5 is sealed.
According to this* invention, there in provided n »torrage pouch
i •formed from a single sheet and to constitute first fold raised
i •from s» second and third fold, the first fold boing in a direction
i oppowito to said second and third folds, such foldun providing a
i
I front and back side and base to said pouch, the vertical sides of
t said front and back side being sealed to each other to the lower
end of said pouch having inclined sides.
i
The process for the manufacture of the pouch in accordance with the present invention comprising in folding a sheet to forming the first fold to provide the back and front side of said pouch, forming gussets by providing a second and third fold to form the
base of said pouch, sealing the vertical sides of said front and
i
back sides, sealing the gusset, cutting the corners, of said
i
gusset to form said inclined sides, forming a side cut at the top.
In accordance with this invention, th,e sheet is fed from a roll and folded to provide a first fold and such as to form the front and back side. Gussets are provided at the -lower end by providing a second and third fold in a direction opposite to the first fold. Further, the first fold is disposed at a distance away from said second and third folds, the gussets form the base of said pouch.
- 4 -The vertical sides of th'3 front and back sides ape sealed to each

other. The gussets are

sealed and the corners cut to form the

inclined walls. Finally, the top side is provided with an
{
inclined cut for receiving a preformed member having an opening ith a stopper.
