STAVUDINE CONTROLLED RELEASE TABLET

Abstract

This invention relates to a composition and the process for the preparation of a sustained release matrix tablet of Stavudine, characterized in that the composition comprises Stavudine with dissolution modifier(s) in the form of a hydrophilic swellable polymer, diluent, binder and lubricant comprising the process steps of blending the active ingredient, dissolution modifier(s), diluent(s) and binder(s), granulating fluid, drying the wet mass at 30˚C to 50˚C, lubricating with a lubricant and compressing the lubricated granules into tablet.
