| Title of Invention | BILAYER TABLETS OF OXCARBAZEPINE FOR CONTROLLED DELIVERY AND A PROCESS OF PREPARATION THEREOF |

| Abstract | The present invention describes a bilayer tablet comprising (a) an immediate release first layer comprising an effective amount of oxcarbazepine and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excient and (b) a cibtrikked release second layer comprising an effective amount of oxcarbazepine and phrmaceutically acceptable excipients wherein total of oxcarbazepine impurities is less than or equal to about 2% by weight. The present invention describes process for preparation of a controlled release bilayer tablets that is capable of delivering oxcarbazepine from matrix forming layer. The present invention also describes process for preparation of oxcarbazepine bilayer tablets. The present invention relates more particularly to bilayer tablets of oxcarbazepine, which maintain a therapetically effective blood concentration of oxcarbazepine with once a day administration. |
