USES:
1) SANJEEVANI BAG -
A) Bag with large handle:
Sanjeevani bag is very compact & in size 12" L X 8" B X 5"H.
It is made of NON WOVEN FABRIC( SPUN BOND) material or any other suitable material. It is very flexible and it can not be torn easily . It has two wooden strips kept inside it so that it can be thrown to a drowning victim and as it floats , the victim can easily grab it by its handle (18 inches long ) or hug it even in his panic. ( Sometimes, just throwing a rope is not enough to rescue a drowning victim as there is every possibility of his missing the rope or the rope slipping out of his hands). When the victim is far away from the shore , a swimmer can take the bag up to the victim , slip it on to his shoulders so that the victim hugs the bag instead of the rescuer .Thus he can then be pulled towards the shore, without any danger to both , the victim and the rescuer, with the rope attached to the S. Bag, by someone on the shore or by the swimmer- rescuer himself. The shape and buoyancy of the bag can be increased by putting Thermocol partitions for the items in the kit- bag.
B) Nylon Rope:
9 meters long Nylon Rope, is included in Sanjeevani Bag, is very strong , has a high capacity for pulling heavy objects. It can be used to —
a) Tow away abandoned (stopped) cars from the roads to prevent from theft and further damage.
b) Pull out victims from valley, well, river sea, pools etc.
c) Guide Victims in fire/smoke, darkness.
C) Wooden Strips:
2 Nos. pieces of wooden strips -
11 inch long and 3 inch broad each and two 6mm holes in depth about 4.5 inch at one end, are fixed in side pockets of Sanjeevani Rescue Bag . They give weight to the bag when we need to throw the S. Bag with its attached rope to save a drowning person. They can be used to remove a person away from contact with electricity.
They can be used as temporary splints for injuries involving fractures till reaching medical help or hospital. Both strips can be joined together to make a longer splint by using S.S. rod through the holes in the strips (6mm diameter each) as shown in figure 6.
(3)
2) CARBON MASK:
Carbon Mask is made up of activated carbon , filter paper , and non woven fabric material, for adsorbing toxic gas, foul odor from decomposed bodies, etc.
I have also used a copper -strip (0.001 inch thick ,0.5inch broad and 4inch inch long ) so the mask fits snugly on any nose.
Also Activated Carbon from the filter paper packet in the mask can be used by the doctors in emergency to prevent poisoning by overdose of poisonous food or drink as activated carbon is known to absorb poison if used in a right way.
3) SUCTION APPARATUS KIT:
A) Suction apparatus big (50 ml) and small (5 ml)
This is made by removing the tip of a plastic syringe and flattening the cut rim of the syringe pipe by heating it gently, so that the piston does not come out of the pipe. It makes an excellent first - aid tool .It can be used to suck poisoned blood from the snake bite wound This can remove up to 60% (approximately) venom from the blood if immediately used.
Big size apparatus has a diameter of around 25 mm more than enough to cover a wound of snake bite of the biggest poisonous snake in India.
Small size apparatus has a diameter of 10 mm, is best suitable for small wound coverage ( e.g. fingers etc ) where the big apparatus can not be used . Availability easily with vets in any village. It is easily carried in pocket or on person. Best for farmers' and villagers' protection.
B) Sterilized Blade (no 11)
A No. 11 Sterilized blade is used to make a swift, sharp cut, not too deep , just enough to make it possible to suck out poisoned blood from any bite immediately by using suction apparatus.
In emergency delivery cases , it can come handy to cut the umbilical cord to separate newborn baby from mother . In burn cases, it can be used to cut off clothes sticking to skin of the victim without peeling off the skin.
C) Velcro Strips , 1 foot long (2 Nos.)
Can be use as Tourniquet in case of snake , reptile and rabid bite . A Tourniquet Acts to prevent circulation of venom or viruses in victim's body .It retards the initial venom movements and therefore the onset of symptoms. The rapid application of this first-aid is very vital. As soon as possible, tie a strip of VELCRO tightly above the affected limbs but keep removing / loosening it every 20 minutes for a while so that gangrene etc. doesn't set in by total stoppage of blood- circulation. Also the batons can be strapped to hold fractured bones when used as temporary splints.

(4)
D) Hand gloves (2 Nos.)
A pair of hand-gloves for use in handling victims hygienically and prevent infection like HIV to the rescuer and patient / Victim in accident or in any other case. People will not hesitate to handle injured patient if he is bleeding.
E) Potassium Permanganate -
To protect Wounds caused by a venomous Snake or Rabid Animal.-Application - Wash the Wound, preferably with a weak ( pale Pink ) solution of Potassium Permanganate in order to remove any venom which may have dried on the skin because of bite of snake . Bathing the wound with warm water to which crystals of permanganate of potash have been added : the solution should be pale pink in color if there is bite by a rabid animal. At the same time we can use suction apparatus to remove the poisonous blood .
4) NECK BELT -
It is made from 12 mm Polyurethane foam ( Hitlon ) and Non woven fabric of spun bond with Velcro strip . This is extra stiff to give support to neck and it's nervous- system during transportation and avoid further damage till receiving proper medical aid. It is economical, washable, and re-usable. It also gives buoyancy to the S ANJEEVANI BAG.
5) URINAL BAG
A) Condoms (3 Nos.)
In Conjunction with Nylon pipe, these can be used to facilitate urination of patients/ victims who are unable to retain it during transport. This will give him mental and physical relaxation and reduce anxiety and embarrassment which can cause aggravation in other vital areas during accidents. Urine can be diverts/ collected in a blank carry bag provided.
It is also "Emergency" first aid device in accidental sexual encounters AID is vital, as we all know and it is an accident of serious kind. For inquisitive kids who happen to come across this kit and ask awkward questions , parents can explain away the use of condoms as part of urinal bag without embarrassment.
B) Nylon pipe:
It is made of Nylon, approx 7mm diameter, strong, odorless, flexible, soft unaffected by atmospheric temperature.
It is used as a catheter, and to give artificial respiration when mouth to mouth respiration is not possible due to lack of knowledge, technique, cultural and hygienic reasons and shyness etc. Air can be blown in the lungs through this nylon pipe which can easily fit in any nostril or mouth of person of any age by anybody with a little training.

(5)
It can also be used to suck out any foreign material/insect accidentally lodged in ear , nose etc., blow away dust or small particles from eyes.
C) Carry Bags (2 Nos.) with nylon rubber:
Used to collect urine and vomit in emergency. In case of accident we can use carry bag to collect broken-off limbs and carry them along with the victim till reaching a hospital. This will protect them from infection, dust etc.
6) STAINLESS STEEL (S.S.) ROD 6 MM:
A S. S. Rod with 6mm diameter and 9 inch length is provided in the kit .Used for rescuing victims trapped in lift by unlatching doors . Another use is to extend the size of splint by joining the 2 wooden strips . (as shown in figure no 6)
7) SANJEEVANI Roller Bandage with safety pin (as shown in figure no 3,4,5,):
It is made of NON WOVEN FABRIC( SPUN BOND) material .It is stretchable and it can not be torn easily . It is porous. It is in size of 3 inches width and 6 meters length. It is very useful as a crape bandage for external support. Even it is useful in case of sprained ankle, wrist, elbow , leg-joints and also used in snake bites first aid. Safety pin is attached with the same for proper tightening and grip at the end of bandage.
