Abstract

This invention relates to a novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis comprising Zanjabeel (Zingibar officinale Rose.) in an amount of 90-125mg, Suranjan Sheerin (Clochicum) in an amount of 180-225 mg, Filfil Siyah (Piper nigrum Linn.) in an amount of 90-125 mg and Asgand (Withania somnifera Dunal) in an amount of 90-125 mg. and also this invention relates to a process for preparation of a novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis comprising steps of preparation of aqueous extracts of Zanjabeel, Powdering of dry rhizome of suranjan, Preparation of aqueous extract of filfil siyah and Asgand, mixing of the above thus obtained followed by drying.

FIELD OF INVENTION This invention relates to a novel herbal composition (sugar coated) effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis and a process for preparation thereof. PRIOR ART There are a number of Unani formulations for Rheumatoid Arthritis available in the market. These are being manufactured and marketed by different Pharmaceuticals. 1. SAFOOF WAJA-UL-MAFASIL Composition Suranjan Sheerin 2 gm Chiraita 2 gm Qust Sheerin 2 gm Boozidan 2 gm Annesoon 2 gm 2. HABB-E-WAJA-UL-MAFASIL Composition Bish Aswad Mudabbar 12 gm Filfil daraz 24 gm Filfil Siyah 24 gm Zanjabeel 12 gm Badiyan 12 gm Shangraf 12 gm Zeera Siyah 12 gm 3. HABB-E-SURANJAN Composition Suranjan shreein 5 gm Turbud 5 gm Elwa 4 gm Kala Dana 2 gm Ghareequn 2 gm Aneesoon 2 gm Gugul 400 mg Mastagi 400 mg 4. MAJOON JOGRAJ GUGUL (Table Removed) The above mentioned Unani formulations are neither much effective nor palatable. At the same time these drugs are costly. OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION The principal object of the present invention is to propose a novel the therapeutic composition capable of offering an effective treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Another object of the present invention is to propose a novel the therapeutic composition capable of offering an effective treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis prepared entirely from herbal and mineral commonly available drugs. Still another object of the present invention is to propose a novel the therapeutic composition capable of offering an effective treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis which has no toxicity or untoward effect after prolonged administration in children and also in pregnant women. Further object of the present invention is to propose a novel the therapeutic composition capable of offering an effective treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis which is cheaper, more effective and free from side effects. STATEMENT OF INVENTION According to this invention there is provided a novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis comprising Zanjabeel (Zingibar officinale Rose.) in an amount of 90-125mg, Suranjan Sheerin (Clochicum) in an amount of 180-225 mg, Filfil Siyah (Piper nigrum Linn.) in an amount of 90-125 mg and Asgand (Withania somnifera Dunal) in an amount of 90-125 mg. Further according to this invention there is provided A process for preparation of a novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis comprising steps of:- - preparation of aqueous extracts of Zanjabeel, Powdering of dry rhizome of suranjan, -Preparation of aqueous extract of filfil siyah and Asgand, -mixing of the above thus obtained followed by drying. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to this invention there is provided a herbal composition effective against rheumatoid arthritis comprising: Ingredients 1. Zanjabeel (Zingibar officinale Rose.) 2. Suranjan Sheerin (Clochicum) 3. Filfil Siyah (Piper nigrum Linn.) 4. Asgand (Withania somnifera Dunal) Though not limited thereto, the composition comprises: 1. Zanjabeel (Zingibar officinale Rose.) 90.00-125.00 mg 2. Suranjan Sheerin (Clochicum) 180.00-225.00 mg. 3. Filfil Siyah (Piper nigrum Linn.) 90.00.-125.00 mg. 4. Asgand (Withania somnifera Dunal) 90.00-125.00 mg. To every 500 mg of the preparation. The process comprises: 1. Zanjabeel being crushed and aqueous extracts is obtained using minimum quantity of purified water (A). 2. Cleaned, dried rhizome of Suranjan is finely powdered (B), which is sieved through for example 100 mesh size. 3. Coarse powder of Filfil Siyah and Asgand are separately prepared followed by preparation of concentrated aqueous extract of the same (c). Concentrate of aqueous extract is upto the formation of viscous mass. Normally total mass comes to about 25 to 35% of the total herbs. 4. All the three viz. A, B, C are thoroughly mixed and dried in fluid bed drier at 90-105° C and for 3-4 hrs by mixing diluents and preservative. Diluent used is for example Light Kaolin in the quantity between 25 to 30% and preservative is for example Sod. Benzoate in the concentrate 0.1 to 0.15%. 5. Dried granules so obtained are compressed to get 500 mg tablets, which are further subjected to sugar coating. ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION The present invention is superior than the drugs available in the market because of the following: 1. It is more effective. 2. Its effect lasts for more duration. 3. It is easy to administer and cheaper. 4. It is easier to take as compared to other drugs available in the market. 5. It is well tolerated and free from toxic/side effects. 6. It is effective particularly in Rheumatoid Arthritis, common joint pain, frozen joints and osteo Arthritis. 7. It acts as anti-inflammatory, analgesic and relieves tenderness and restores mobility. It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:- WE CLAIM 1. A novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis comprising Zanjabeel (Zingibar officinale Rose.) in an amount of 90-125mg, Suranjan Sheerin (Clochicum) in an amount of 180-225 mg, Filfil Siyah (Piper nigrum Linn.) in an amount of 90-125 mg and Asgand (Withania somnifera Dunal) in an amount of 90-125 mg. 2. A process for preparation of a novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis comprising steps of:- - preparation of aqueous extracts of Zanjabeel, - Powdering of dry rhizome of suranjan, - Preparation of aqueous extract of filfil siyah and Asgand, - mixing of the above thus obtained followed by drying. 3. A process as claimed in claim 2 wherein the aqueous extract of filfil siyah and Asgand is concentrated. 4. A process as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein drying of the mixture is carried out in a fluid bed drier at 90-105°C for 3-4 hrs by mixing diluent such as Light Kaolin in an amount of 25-30% and preservative is such as sodium Benzoate in the concentrate of 0.1 to 0.15%. 5. A novel herbal composition effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis and a process for preparation thereof substantially as herein described.
