Abstract A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement comprising of a case, a latch bolt reciprocably mounted therein and adapted to co - operate with striker plate , a dead bolt reciprocably mounted in the casing and adapted to co - operate with striker plate, means for retracting the latch bolt , key operated means for protracting and retracting dead bolt from outside and knob / key operated means for protracting / retracting dead bolt from inside , means to disable the operation from outside.

3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed : -

MORTISE LOCK WITH DEADLOCKING ARRANGEMENT
The invention relates to Door Lock and particularly Mortise Door Lock with necessity for privacy function from innerside of the door. The device has a feature to permit/restrict the entry of person from the outside even with its own key.
In connection with doors to the rooms or apartments, mechanism has sometimes been employed to permit the occupant to restrict the entry of anyone on the outside even with its own key. The devices have sometimes taken the form of tower bolts , for example , and other times have taken the form of Aldrop fitted on the door.
The invention has a privacy feature combined with the Mortise lock itself i.e. when the feature is employed / engaged it could only be dis - engaged by a person from the inside of the room and hence anyone seeking to enter from the outside must be admitted by one from the inside only. The lock functions normally when the feature is not employed i.e. can be opened from outside with its own key when locked from inside.
The object of the present invention is to provide the combined privacy function in a Mortise Door Lock of novel construction and feature.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a Mortise Door Lock which would be simple in construction and operation so that the door may be opened from either side thereof in the ordinary manner.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a Mortise Door Lock so that the lock can be disabled from opening from outside even with its own key whenever the privacy is required on the inside and nobody can enter in the room without the permission of the occupant.

Further objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description and the accompanying drawings which is described with reference to Figures 1 to 4 as follows :

Accordingly there is provided a Mortise lock , to illustrate the preferred embodiments of the invention . The door lock comprises the latch assembly (100) and pin cylinder lock assembly (200).The latch assembly further comprising of a casing (1) having a recess (26) to receive locking cylinder assembly (200) having a rotatable driving cranks (37a) and (37b). The casing (1) also admits the latch bolt comprising of bolt head (9) integrated with the stem (10) by rivet (8) guided in lug (4) on the casing (1) and normally retained to protracted position by spring (11). At the rear end of the stem (10) is retainer clip (14) and the follower plate (12) adapted to be engaged by lower and upper latch retracting levers (16), the latch retracting levers having a slot to receive the hub (17) rotatably housed in the casing (1). The latch retracting lever has a boss (25) adapted to be engaged by a pusher plate (15) normally retained in its protracted position by spring (28) and guided by lug (27) secured to the casing (1) . The latch bolt is further provided with reversing spring (13) for changing the latch bolt orientation so that the latch may be converted to outside opening door application , the hub (17) is turned by the handle (not shown) to retract the latch bolt (9) from either side of the door. The latch assembly (100) is further provided with a dead bolt (22) integrated to bolt plate (21) and (20) by rivet (18) guided by pins (31) integral to the casing (1), the dead bolt further comprises of follower plate (19) guided by pins (31) and retained in its position by spring (6) fulcrumed on a rivet (5) integral to the casing (1) and adapted to be engaged by driving crank (37a) and (37b) so that it may be

operated by key (40) from ouside of the door and by knob (32) from inside of the door to protract / retract the dead bolt.
The latch assembly further comprises of the forend plate (2) integral with casing (1) by rivets (3) and forend trim (7). It further comprises of rivet (30) integrated to the casing (1) to receive screws (24) for fixing of the cover (23) to the casing thereby enclosing the assembly . It is further provided with guiding clip (29) engaging into the casing (1) and cover (23) to guide [the pin cylinder assembly (200)] fixing screw (49).
The pin cylinder assembly (200) comprises of the housing (38) having axial slots to receive cylinder (33) and (39), the cylinder (33) is integrated to a knob (32) by rivet pin (48) and houses the spring (34) and slideably receives the pusher rod (35) integrated with pin (47) adapted to engage with the slot provided in the cylinder
(33).
The circlip (36) is provided on groove of a cylinder (33) and (39) to rotatably retain them into the housing (38). It is further provided with driving crank (37a) and (37b) adapted to be engaged radially on the slots in the dead bolt plate (21) of latch assembly (100) thereby retracting or protracting the dead bolt when operated through key or knob.
The cylinder (39) has a plurality of holes to retain the operating pins (41) and driver pins (42) adapted to be engaged with the key and retain its position by springs (44) and plugs (43) are rivetted into the housing to retain the springs into the holes of the housing . The pin (41) and (42) are aligned along the shear line of the cylinder and housing when the key is inserted into the cylinder , hence allowing to rotate along with the crank.

It is further provided with a ball (40) and spring (45) to retain the knob in a particular position.
From the foregoing , it will be seen that this invention is one well adapted to attain all of the ends and objects herein above set forth , together with other advantages which are obvious and which are inherent in the lock.
It will be understood that certain features and sub - combination are of utility and may be employed without reference to other features and sub - combinations . This is contemplated by and is within the scope of the claims.
As many possible embodiments may be made of the invention without departing from the scope thereof , it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

WE CLAIM:
1. A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement comprising of a case, a latch bolt reciprocably mounted therein and adapted to co - operate with striker plate , a dead bolt reciprocably mounted in the casing and adapted to co -operate with striker plate means for retracting the latch bolt , key operated means for protracting and retracting dead bolt from outside and knob / key operated means for protracting / retracting dead bolt from inside , means to disable the operation from outside.
2. A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the knob operated means are rotated through 360° to protract and retract dead bolt by 10 mm and further rotated by 360° to protract and retract by another 10 mm.
3. A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the key operated means being rotated through 360° to protract / retract the dead bolt by 10 mm.
4. A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement as claimed in claim 3 , wherein said key operating means are disabled when the second bolt is protracted by 20 mm, from inside which , serves as privacy function.
5. A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the construction and design of the bolt plate (21) which differentiates operation from inside and outside.
6. A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the pin cylinder assembly - with split crank which enables for dual functions (independently operable) is a novel feature.

A Mortise Lock with deadlocking arrangement as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the unique function and features to customer for specific applications, which will enable normal usage of lock with knob function from inside and deadlocking facility from outside thereby preventing operation of knob from window / grill on the door.
