TITLE OF INVENTION: DROPPING CATCHER
INNOVATION BY : Mr. Ladkat Rajendra Vithal
396, Kasba Peth, Pune-411011 Maharashtra, India.
DROPPING CATCHER: It is a device which can be fitted into existing latrine system of trains to collect some excreta at a stationary point & drops out on rail track when train takes a speed, for keeping cleanliness & to maintain hygiene on railway station.
In rail transport many passenger trains have toilet facilities on board. These are often located at the ends of carriages. The traditional method of disposing human waste from trains is merely to deposit the waste on to the tracks using what is known as Hopper Toilet. This ranges from the toilet being hole in the floor of the train, to a full flash system. The hole in the floor system where waste is deposited on the track is still in use in many parts of the world. The principle drawback is that it can be considered crude or unhygienic. It litter's railway lines and can produce health risks if the train is passing over a public water way. Passengers may be discouraged from flashing or using toilets while the train is at station. Generally the problem is unavoidable, although there are solutions where toilets are automatically locked when the train pulls in to a station.
Chemical retention tanks are usually present aboard newer carriages and railcars in wealthier and more densely populated parts of the world. One issue is that the tanks need to be regularly emptied, usually when being attended at a terminal station or prolonged stop-over. If a train is required in service again within too short a period, the tanks may not get emptied. In this case, toilets may back up , which can result in toilets being Closed Another point of note is that carriages may have less "in service" time if fitted with chemical retention tanks.

Dropping catcher is a modification on existing hopper toilet system. It avoids crudeness and
unhygienic and littered railway lines at station .Also it helps to minimize health risk and dirty
smell on railway stations. Dropping catcher systems saves the water and manpower for
frequently cleaning railway track on railway stations. Another advantage of this system will
increase the catering business in trains and on railway stations.
Dropping catcher contains following parts: [ As shown in figure 1, 2 & 3 ]
Part no.
1) Hopper
2) Windy Flap
3) Bracket
4) Tension Spring
5) Hinge

1. Hopper- Hopper means a container that tapers downwards & empties its contents to the bottom. Hopper is fixed to toilet pot at one end & pressure flaps with hinges and holding bracket at other end. Oval shape hole on hopper at the top of upper side of pressure flap for air pressure vent & to overflow excreta while using latrine by few person in standing ( zero motion).
2. Windy Flap - Two hour glass shaped sheet bent at center, tapered at both sides, hinges at one end and a slot to both tapered sides to hook a spring, (as shown in figure 1 & 2) also one hour glass shape metal sheet tapered at both side of one half & other half tapered from centre to operate on wind pressure (as shown in figure 3).
3. Bracket- Bracket fitted to hopper for holding windy flap with the help of hinges.

4. Tension Spring- Tension spring with both side hooks is used to keep windy flap in closed condition at standing position of train & to hold windy flap up to certain angle at high speed.
5. Hinge- self hinge of windy flap or suitable hinge can be used for to operate windy flap up and down.
Dropping Catcher made by to way, one is by using two windy flap as shown in figure 1 & 2 and another is by using one windy flap as shown in figure 3. Working - While train is at standing position due to tension spring hook in hopper and windy flap slot, windy flap became in close condition i.e. hopper other end in closed. So that up to vent hole excreta will be stored.
When train takes a speed, due to wind pressure windy flap goes down and excreta falls downwards. Tension spring hold the windy flap tightly at high wind pressure up to certain angle. For additional support two tension spring are used for one windy flap.

I Claim:
1) Dropping Catcher comprising of five items as follows :
Items:
i) Hopper with a hole in the middle- A container that tapers downwards &
empties its contents at the bottom with hole for overflow excreta
ii) Windy Flap- Two metal sheet portion bend each for keeping hopper end closed & other to exposed wind pressure with help of hinges at centre or only one sheet of metal tapered to both side can be used as windy flap.
iii) Bracket- Bracket to hold hinge of windy flap & give extra support where two windy flaps are used.
iv) Tension Spring- Tension Spring with both side hooks which can stretch up to certain distance.
v) Hinge- self Hinge of windy flap or suitable hinge can be used.
2) The Dropping Catcher of claim 1 wherein the all part is made from stainless steel or any suitable material.
3) The Dropping Catcher of claim 1 wherein hopper with a hole at upper side & above the closed end for overflow excreta at standing position of train & excess air pressure vent while train at motion.
4) The Dropping Catcher of claim 1 wherein windy flap is used to hold excreta at standing position of train & drain out at motion.
5) The Dropping Catcher of claim 1 wherein the tension spring are used to keep windy flap in closed condition & will open at wind pressure up to certain angle.
6) The Dropping Catcher of claim 1 wherein the hinge is used to give the windy flap movement up & down.
7) The Dropping Catcher of claim 1 wherein bracket is used for to give additional strength to hopper for holding hinges at wind pressure.
8) A Dropping Catcher substantially as herein defined and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

Abstract:
1. Dropping Catcher is a device for latrine in trains to keep cleanliness & to maintain hygiene on railway station.
2. Hopper with an oval shape hole for air pressure vent & to overflow excreta.
3. Two hour glass shape windy flap bend at centre for one half keeps hopper at closed condition & other half exposed to wind to operate closed part up & down.
4. Bracket fitted to hopper for holding windy flap with help of hinges.
5. Tension Spring is used to keep windy flap in closed condition at standing position of train & to hold windy flap up to a certain angle at high speed.
6. Slots on hopper & windy flap to hook up tension spring.
7. Self Hinge of windy flap or suitable hinge can be used for operating windy flap up & down.
