Title of Invention

A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

Abstract A continuously variable transmission system characterised bv a lubrication free arrangement: and a movably driven sintered boss or mild steel boss with low friction coating, said boss and its face being attached together by an adhesive
Full Text

This invention relates to a continuously variable transmission system, hereinafter also called a CVT system for the sake of brevity.
The known CVT system is prone to the drawback that
it has Low transmission efficiency.
Another drawback of the known CVT system is that it
is sensitive to lubrication requirement.
The known CVT system has more number of parts in
the driven part of the system rendering it cumbersome
in use.
The known CVT system involves more number of
parts and is therefore correspondingly involves high
production costs.
This invention therefore proposes a CVT system
which considerably minimizes the above mentioned
drawbacks.
Thus, the proposed CVT system is free from oil seals.
O-rings and grease retaining components.
The continuously variable transmission system, according to this invention, is characterized by a lubrication free arrangement; and a movably driven sintered boss, or mild steel boss with low friction coating, the boss and its face being attached together by an adhesive.
The boss and the face have to be integral to transmit the belt torque to the shaft. That is to sat7, the face receives the torque from the belt and the boss transmits to the shaft.

This invention will now be described with further
reference to the accompanying drawings
in which
Fig. 1 illustrates the known CVT system
and
Fig.2 illustrates, by way of example, and not
limitation, one of possible embodiments of the CVT
system proposed herein.
In the existing CVT system, oil seals S, O-rings R and movably driven cover C are provided as indicated. These components are eliminated in the CVT system proposed herein.
In the known CVT system a mild steel boss M is provided and this boss needs lubrication. In the proposed CVT system, however, a movably driven sintered boss B which needs no lubrication is provided. The sintered boss B or mild steel boss with low friction coating is located in the place of the known mild steel boss M.
The boss B and its movably driven face F are fixed to each other by an adhesive without resorting to welding. This reduces distortion and is also cost reducing during manufacture.
Various other embodiments of this invention are possible without departing from the scope and ambit of this invention.

We Claim:
1. A continuously variable transmission system
characterised bv a lubrication free arrangement:
and a movably driven sintered boss or mild steel
boss with low friction coating, said boss and its
face being attached together by an adhesive.
2. A continuously variable transmission system
substantially as herein described and illustrated
by the accompanying drawings.
