| Abstract | The present invention relates to a Chimeric promoter constructed by fusion of GhrbcSP and D35SP promoters; a vector carrying the chimeric promoter; a method to obtain Chimeric promoter; a method of expressing genes using said promoter in plants and a prokaryotic or eukaryotic host cell transformed witA the Chimeric promoter. The chimeric promoter of the instant invention is expressed in all tissues except seed endosperm thereby providing for expression of genes coding for proteins essential for crop improvement in a tissue specific manner and yet developing a crop fit for consumption, preferably for human consumption. |
