Title of Invention

NEW METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF COMPACT YARN

Abstract A device for condensing the drafted strand from the front roller of the drafting system of ring spinning machine is disclosed. The device consists of two aprons 3 and 4 running over the apron rollers 5 and 6 supported by 7 and 8 respectively (FIG.l). The apron rollers pressed against each other by using spring loading arrangement The drive to the apron rollers is given either from front roller or from separate motor. By using this device the drafted strand can be converged and hence the width of the spinning triangle can be reduced, which finally result improved yarn quality in terms of strength, hairiness and regularity.
Full Text New method of production of compact yarn
This is a compacting unit fitted after the front roller of the drafting system of ring frame machine to condense the drafted fibres to produce compact yarn.
The yarn produced using existing ring spinning machine has the disadvantage that the fibres coming out of the delivery roller are not integrated properly and hence results in hairiness of the yarn. This problem can be solved by reducing the width of the spinning triangle. The previous devices used for condensing the drafted fibres use either pneumatic suction arrangement or magnetic condensers, which complicates the design and makes the retrofitting on the existing machine difficult. The working cost is higher due to continuous requirement of air suction and also frequent change of components used for the above purpose. The investment for such system is high that most of the spinning mills cannot afford it.
These problems are overcome by the present invention, which uses pair of aprons after the front roller of the ring spinning machine and importantly without using any suction arrangement.
The device consists of two apron rollers, which create fourth nip in the drafting system. The whole arrangement can be fixed easily after the delivery point of the drafting arrangement of existing ring spinning machine.
FTG.l shows the line diagram of the condensing system. The drafted fibres coming out of the front bottom roller 1 and front top roller 2 of the drafting system of existing ring spinning machine passes between aprons 3 and 4. The aprons 3 and 4 are mounted over the rubber rollers 5 and 6 (called as apron rollers) using supports 7 and 8. The rubber rollers 5 and 6 are firmly fixed on the hollow cylinders 11 and 12 respectively. The rollers 5 and 6 are pressed against each other by the application of load using adjustable spring arrangement as shown in FIG2. The gap between the aprons at the entry point can be adjusted as shown in FIG.3.

The loading arrangement for the apron rollers 5 and 6 is shown in FIG2. The metal rods 9 and 10 are mounted inside the hollow cylinders 11 and 12 using bearing 13 and 14 respectively. The other end of the metal rods 9 and 10 are fixed inside the hollow cylinders 15 and 16 using the bearings 17 and 18 respectively. The rubber cots 19 and 20 are firmly fixed over the hollow cylinders 15 and 16 respectively. The metal rod 9 is fixed in the clamps 21 & 22 as shown in FIG.4. The other metal rod 10 with rubber cots at their ends to place the aprons is placed over the metal rod 9 with the help of another clamp 23 as shown in FIG. 2. The clamp 23 is inserted into the slot in the beam 24. A bolt with spring between clamp 23 and column 25 is used to adjust the load between the aprons.
The drive to the rollers is shown in FIG.5. The rod 26 is fixed firmly inside the hollow cylinder 11. The end of the rod 26 is fixed with the gear pulley 27. The drive to the gear pulley is given by means of timing belt 28. The timing belt gets the drive from
