Title of Invention

“ANTI-MYOSTATIN ANTIBODIES”

Abstract Anti-myostatin antibodies are identified that are characterized as having high affinity and may be chimeric, humanized or fully human antibodies, immunoconjugates of the antibodies or antigen-binding fragments thereof. The antibodies of the invention are useful for increasing muscle mass, increasing bone density, or for the treatment of various disorders in mammalian and avian species.
Full Text The invention is in the field of medicine, particularly in the field of monoclonal antibodies against myostatin. More specifically the invention relates to high affinity chimeric, humanized or human..........................

We Claim:
1. An anti-myostatin monoclonal antibody comprising two polypeptides with the
sequences shown in SEQ ID NO: 98 and SEQ ID NO: 138.
2. The anti-myostatin monoclonal antibody according to claim 2 wherein said antibody is
a humanized or fully human antibody or antigen-binding portion thereof.
3. The anti-myostatin monoclonal antibody according to claim 2, wherein the
monoclonal antibody is a full-length antibody, a substantially intact antibody, a Fab
fragment, a F(ab1)2 fragment or a single chain Fv fragment.
4. The anti-myostatin monoclonal antibody according to claim 2, wherein the
monoclonal antibody comprises a heavy chain constant region selected from the
group consisting of IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, lgG4, IgA, IgE, IgM and IgD.
5. The anti-myostatin monoclonal antibody according to claim 2 wherein the constant
region present in the antibody originates from the genome of an animal selected from
the group consisting of domestic animals, sports animals and food- source animals.
6. The anti-myostatin monoclonal antibody according to any one of claims 1-5 for use as
a medicament.
