4. DESCRIPTION: (a) Field of invention : Measures for improvement in yam quality are of considerable interest to the mills in the view of the increasing demand for high quality yams. The performance of drafting systems used in spinning machine and the preparatory' machines are closely linked with the quality of yam. Hence the present invention is related to design modification of bottom rollers of the drafting system used with and without aprons. (b) Background of the invention with regard to drawback associated with prior art: In the existing system of roller drafting, both helical fluted and knurled rollers are used. In this new invention the design of the bottom rollers fluting has been changed to (Fig (2)) point fluted to improve the yam quality. Specification of this modified bottom roller fluting are given below a) a and P angle varies from 10° to 80°. b) Left hand fluting and right hand fluting are interchangeable. c) A: B distance ratio varies from 1:1 to 3:1. d) Number of flutings per centimeter varies from 5 to 10 If the textile strands goes between point fluted bottom roller and top roller, it can divide into several number of strips and get accelerated than that happens with helical fluted bottom roller in the existing system and hence the internal doubling can be improved in the case of point fluted bottom roller. Due to this improvement in internal doubling with the point fluted bottom roller, the yam CV% and imperfections can be significantly reduced. (c) Objective of the invention: The main objective of the invention is to improve the spun yam particularly regularity properties by improving the internal doubling during the drafting process at the various stages of the yam spinning by introducing point fluted bottom roller in one or more positions of drafting systems with and without aprons. (d) Summary of the invention: When point fluted bottom rollers are used in the place of helical fluted bottom rollers the yam irregularity properties such as yam CV%. thick, thin places and naps can be reduced. 5. Claims: We claimed that 1) Usage of point fluted bottom rollers of the following specifications (Refer Fig (2)) in the place of present helical fluted bottom rollers of the drafting systems. a) A and angle varies from 10° to 80° b) Left hand fluting and right hand fluting are interchangeable. c) A: B distance ratio varies from 1:1 to 3:1. d) Number of fluting per centimeter varies from 5 to 10. 2) Usage of above mentioned point fluted bottom roller (claim 1) in one are more positions of any one or more drafting systems with and without aprons used in the spinning machines and preparatory' machines for production of spun yarn.
