| Abstract | The present invention relates to the development of novel cyclopropa[a]naphthalene compounds, which can be used as therapeutic agents for the treatment and prevention of neurocerebrovascular disorders, and a process of preparing said novel compounds. More particularly, the present invention relates to 4,5,6,7-substituted-1a,2,3,7b-tetrahydro-1-oxa-cyclopropa[a]naphthalene and related compounds, processes for preparing the said compounds and to their use in the treatment of ischemic and all types of stroke, as well as other types of injuries, such as traumatic brain, eye and spinal cord injury, that may produce ischemic or traumatic tissue damage, and during surgical procedures such as carotid endarterectomy and coronary bypass surgery, where the potential for ischemic tissue damage is present.
