FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a table assembly and more particularly to a game table having interchangeable playing surfaces with height adjustable support legs.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Many market available tables vary in sizes, styles and finishes to provide different choices and varieties to users. In particular, tables such as living room tables, coffee tables, dining tables or game tables are usually fabricated and finished with different colour, pattern or other configuration to enhance aesthetic appearance. However, for small space modem living houses or apartments, conventional single built unit table is not an ideal selection for the user due to limited living space. A small living apartment usually can easily be overwhelmed by others units of furniture. The single built unit table is typically fixed and its appearance usually unchanged unless refurnished or replaced. Moreover, said table is relatively heavy and inconvenient to carry and move within limited space. In addition, expenditure for every single fiimiture items is an economic burden for average income households.
For the reasons of space and economic concern, it has been recognized that it is advantageous to provide a table to serve two or more purposes. A multifunctional table is perhaps the most appropriate for small living houses or apartments. The multifunctional table has advantages of saving space as well as providing a number of functions at a cost less than the cost of several single function unit tables. There have been many patents issued, in which a table having a table top or work surface that can be changeable to serve a number of functions are disclosed. However, furniture items such as described in U.S. Pat. No. 1,850,420 for "Game table", U.S. Pat. No. 3,001,843 for "Convertible Table", and U.S. Pat. No. 3,227,105 for "Table" are relatively complex in construction.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved table, which is simple and inexpensive in construction yet is adapted to provide a table top having interchangeable playing surface panels. Said interchangeable playing surface panels can be removed or turned over to serve different purposes such as providing different surfaces for different kind of games. An optional board may be provided on the table top so that the table top is enclosed and act as, for example, coffee table, living room table, dining table, end table or the like. Moreover, the table also provides adjustable support legs for different desired height range selection and yet is aesthetically pleasing.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a game table having interchangeable playing surface boards overlaid on a table top and having height adjustable support legs at each bottom comer of the table top. Particularly, the game table includes table top assembly having a table frame of substantially rectangular configuration with side enclosure walls, each comer of the table frame is provided an enclosure bowl pocket and having a support panel with an opening attached under the table frame. Each enclosure bowl pocket can be enclosed by a removable cap. The removable cap can be of any kind of suitable material. Preferably, plastic cap is used. Each middle top surface of the side enclosure wall includes an alcove. Accordingly, said alcove is a temporary storage space for game discs or other equipments.
The table top assembly also includes a base board of substantially rectangular configuration attachable with framework and supporting means. Said framework is a substantially rectangular structure defining a storage compartment defining a storage space for games equipment or any other objects. The framework is having an integrally formed protraded lip along its top peripheral surface to receive table frame. Accordingly, the support panel of the table frame is matingly engaged and rest seated on outer surface of the protmded lip. The supporting means is refer to a support member and a support column attached thereto. Said support member and support column can be an integrally formed body instead of two independent bodies.
The table top assembly further includes a rotatable panel pivotally engaged at each bottom surface comer of the base board. Accordingly, the rotatable panel is positioned in a sandwich position between adjustable leg and the base board. The rotatable panel further includes a recess region at its body.
A plurality of interchangeable surface panels also provided at table top assembly. Each interchangeable surface panel is imprinted or fumished with different type of game images or surfaces on at least one side of the panel. The surface panels are overlaying on recess of the table frame. Particularly, first interchangeable surface panel is of dimensions equal to inner peripheral side surface of the protruded lip and rest seated on the framework. At least one at middle side edge of the first interchangeable surface panel is a finger arched so that allows user to lift up the surface panel when needed. Second and third interchangeable surface panels are of dimensions equal to inner peripheral wall surface of the side enclosure walls and can be interchangeably rest seated on the support panel of the table frame. Each of comers of the second and third interchangeable surface panels is further provided an arched nook for the carom game.
The game table also includes adjustable legs threadably attached at each bottom comer of the table top assembly. Particularly, the adjustable legs having a plurality of sectional support legs wherein each sectional support leg is disposed with an extemally threaded projection bolt at one end and the other end disposed with an internally threaded socket. Each sectional support leg has a predetermined length and is arranged in any combination to attain desired height. Moreover, the sectional support legs can be of any configuration, shape and length to provide different aesthetic appearance and height to the table game so that said game table can also serve as, for example, a living room table, coffee table, end table or the like depending on the user preferred.
The game table can be further provided with an optional board on the table top assembly. The optional board is a plain surface board configured with a substantially rectangular enclosure frame. Said optional board can be matingly engaged and rest seated on the table frame of the assembly.
