A PROCESS TO MANUFACTURE GRANULER MOULD FLUX FOR SUBMERGED NOZZLE TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING OF STEEL. |
Abstract |
A process to manufacture granuler mould flux for submerged nozzle type continuous casting of steel wherein the mouid flux comprising Cao toS'tC^ in the critical proportion of 0.3 to 3*0 to whlcQ z to 18 parts of fluorides^ such as Na20 and/or k20 are added along with appropriate type of carbon such as 100# carbon in particle size of -150 mesh BSSto -300 mesh BSS is used to which aqueous solution of a binder in the form o? starch, and/or water solubli resins, or sodium silicate is added to form a slijrry 0f such consistency that on spraying this slurry against the draft of upwardly rising hot air, fine droplets will be converted into granules of soliq nature. Or ag a variation if the said slurry is of thinner consistency mad* &y adding little extra water, the sprayed slurry falling downwards against the blast of hot air will be converted into fine granules which will be holi0w from inside. |
