Title of Invention | A BIREFRINGENT CRYSTAL LENS LIGHT BEAM POLARIZER |
---|---|
Abstract | A birefringent crystal lens liflht beam polarizer. It consists of a birefringent crystal such as c^icite i^l oriented to ' give large double refaction by orienting the optic axis (G) thereof with respect to the axis (H) of the polarizer to define angles close to 45° therebetween. One of a pair of opposite V«aces of the crystal is ground and polished to form a convex lens (E) and the other of the pair of opposite faCes of the crystal is ground and polished to farm a concave lens (F). The focii of the convex lens and Concave lens coincide with each other. The thickness (tl) of the crystal and the radi? of curvatures (R,R1) of the convex lens and concave lens are selected depending on the angle (j^ ) required between the emerging polarized ordinary ray (ClJ.and extraordinary ray. |
