A COLLAPSIBLE SOLAR DRYER

Abstract

AbgtraottA collapsible solar dryer consisting of a housing (1) comprising a tray shaped base (2) made of a good thermal conductor material. The tray shaped base is provided with a thermal insulator material pad sheet (3) and a plurality of spaced apart legs (5) and a plurality of air inlets (6). The dryer further consists of a converging upper portion (8) comprising a pair of tapered cover elements 19,10) made of a good thermal conductor material. The lower ends of the cover elements are hinged to and removably clamped onto the raised edge of the tray shaped base at different levels of heights. The inner surfaces of the cover elements are provided with a plurality of performed tray support means (15 A and 16 A, 15B and 16B, 15C and 16C). The converging upper portion further comprises a pair of cover members (17, 18) disposed between the cover elements and vertically inclined towards each other from the lower ends to the upper ends "thereof/ The lower ends of the cover members are removably supported on the raised edge of the tray shaped base and the upper ends of the cover members define an air escape path (22) therebetween. The lower parts (17A," 18A) of the cover members are made of a good thermal conductor material and the upper parts (17Bf18B) of the cover mambers are made of a transparent thermal insulator material. The sides of the cover mambers are removably clamped onto the cover elements. The outer surfaces of the raised edge of the tray shaped base, the cover elements and the lower parts of the cover members are provided with a mat black paint coating. Perforated trays (27) are ■ located on the tray support means (Refer IFigs 1 ,2 and 4 )
