Abstract | A camlock / budget lock with reversible key comprises a housing (9) to accomdate a cylinder {3) having a key way slot rotatably mounted in the housing (9) said housing & cylinder have plurality of radial matching holes to accommodate operating pins (4,5,6,17,19); driver pins (7, 18) connected through individual operating baising means to operate said pins, by means of a reversible key (1) ; said reversible key having circular / oval indentation on either side to operate the lock through the key way; in the locking position the operating pins & driver pins bridge the radial hole of housing & cylinder; in the unlocking position the operating pins & driver pins are pushed away from bridging line thus allowing the cylinder to turn by means of reversible key thereby rotating a cam / bolt mounted on cylinder from locking position to unlocking position & vice versa; a key slot provided in the cylinder is slightly deeper than the cylinder face to accommodate key shoulder of key for permitting more torque during operation which prevent twisting of key blade. The requirement of more torque is expected during misalignments which commonly occur during fitment. |

LTD. of LOCKS DIVISION PLANT-18 PIROJSHANAGAR, VIKHROLI, MUMBAI - 400 079, MAHARASHTRA, India, INDIAN Company hereby declare : - The following specification particularly describes the nature of the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed : - AN IMPROVED CAMLOCK WITH REVERSIBLE KEY This invention relates to door lock and particularly lock of budget lock / cam lock type wherein the locking and unlocking operation is performed by reversible key of varied non-interchangeable combinations which swings a pivoted tongue by 90 / 18 0° into a slot in the locking plate to serve as deadbolt. Heretofore, it was known to use the one sided key for the same operation with limited non-interchangeable combination which makes the key insertion difficult especially in the dark / areas not easily accesible. This has made the inventor to invent the said improved camlock to make the key insertion easier and enhance the security level of the application. Now there is provided by a present invention, a reversible key, there is also provided an arrangement to change the locking cam position through 90° to take care of the different requirements, such as left hand and right hand opening of the door. Therefore, the object of the invention is to provide reversible key for easier insertion of the key even in the dark / not easily accessible areas and enhance the security level of the application. Another object of the invention is to provide an arrangement to change the position of locking cam through 90° to take care of the different requirements. Such as left hand and right hand opening of the door / clockwise or anti clockwise movements of bolt. = 2 = It is another object of the invention is to provide improved budget lock / camlock with double row of pin tumbler mechanism to enhance the security level by increasing number of non -interhangeable key combinations. It is still further object of the invention to make improved budget lock / camlock system of smaller size , to increase the versatility of application. It is still further object of the invention to make an improved budget lock / camlock, which is easier for mounting. Still further object of the invention to make the camlock capable of master key arrangement of more levels and more variants. Another obj ect of the invention is to provide the lock as aforesaid which is safe and Practical in use and yet easily fabricated and inexpensive construction while being aesthetically acceptable when door mounted. A budget lock/ camlock with reversible key comprises a housing to accommodate a cylinder (3) having a keyway slot rotatably mounted in the housing ; said housing & cylinder have plurality of radial matching holes to accommodate operating pins (4,5,17,19); driver pins (7, 18) connected through individual operating baising means; to operate said operating pin & drive pin by means of a reversiable key (1); said reversiable key blade (having circular / oval indenation on either side to operate the lock through the key way; in the locking position the operating pin & = 3 = driver pins bridge the radial hole of housing & cylinder; in the unlocking position the operating pin & driver pins are pushed away from bridging line thus allowing the cylinder to turn by means of reversible key thereby rotating a cam / bolt mounted on cylinder from locking position to unlocking position & vice versa; a key slot provided in the cylinder is slightly deeper than the cylinder face to accommodate key shoulder for permitting more torque during operation which prevent twisting of key blade. Futher objective and advantages of this invention will become apparent from the following description and the acompanying drawing which illustrates certain perferred embodiments and wherein : The invention will be clear from the followings description in the accompanying drawings Fig.l is a perspective view of present invention. Fig.2 is a basic views of present invention. Fig. 3 is the sectional view of present invention along line A-A of Fig. 2 . Fig.4 is a exploded view of present invention. Referring of Fig. 1 to Fig. 4, there is shown a lock of present invention, which in a broad aspect comprises of the following : Key (1) assembled with a Key ring (2) which enters in the cylinder (3) securely fitted with the housing (9) by Circlip = 4 = (14). The said cylinder and housing assembly houses the components such as operating pins {4, 5, e, 17 & 19),driver pins (7 , 18) and springs (8).The said components are retained in the assembly by pin hole cover (10) . The locking Cam (12) is fitted on the cylinder (3) by the locking nut (ig) and locking washer (15) , a stopper pin (11) is rivetted on the cam to restrict its rotation to the slot provided in the housing (9). The rivets (13) are used to integrate the cam lamination (12). The lock retainer clip (20) is pushed in the housing slot while mounting the lock on the door / panel contrivance. It is also within the contemplation of this invention to utilise other types of cam / bolt materials, key materials,shape,size and finishes. It will be understood that certain features and sub combination are of utility and may be implied withc)Ut perferences to other features and sub combinations. This is contemplated by and is within the scope of the claim. This is an embodiment of the invention. Several modifications are possible may be considered within the ambit and spirit of this invention. Since many modifications, variations and changes in detail may be made to the above described embodiments, it is intended that all matters described in the foregoing description as described in the accompanying specification. = 5 = WE CLAIM: 1. A camlock with reversible key comprises a housing (9) to accommodate a cylinder (3) having a key way slot rotatably mounted in the housing (9) said housing & cylinder have plurality of radial matching holes to accommodate operating pins (4,5,6,17.19); driver pins (7,18) connected through individual operating biasing means to operate said pins, by means of a reversible key (1); said reversible key having circular/ oval indentation on either side to operate the lock through the key way; in the locking position the operating pins & driver pins bridge the radial hole of housing & cylinder; in the unlocking position the operating pins & driver pins are pushed away from bridging line thus allowing the cylinder to turn by means of reversible key thereby rotating a cam / bolt mounted on cylinder from locking position to unlocking position & vice versa; a key slot provided in the cylinder is slightly deeper than the cylinder face to accommodate the shoulder of the key. 2. A camlock with reversible key as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said cam/bolt is mounted on the cylinder through slot provided in the cylinder with matching projection in the cam to locate the cam in its proper position and then fitted on the cylinder by means of spring washer & nut. 3. A camlock with reversible key as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cam is provided with a stopper pin which moves within the slot provided in the housing so that it can move 90° with respect to housing & the said stopper pin is provided on either side of the cam; the side of the cam is interchangeable to provide clockwise and anticlock wise movement. 4. A camlock with reversible key as claimed in claim 1 comprises of a locking cam rotatably by 90° with reference to the housing, further comprising of the rotatable cylinder, housing the operating pins, driver pins and springs, the said cylinder has a receiving slot for key to operate the said locking cam from the locking position to unlocking position and vice versa. 5.
