| Abstract | TITLE: HIGH PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP. This invention relates to a high pressure discharge lamp having improved capacity for hot starting, comprising a discharge vessel closed at two ends and defining a lamp axis, supply leads leading out there from and being connected in an electrically conducting manner to a short and a long electric supply conductor component in an outer bulb closed at one end, the long conductor component in an outer bulb closed at one end, the long coneductor component being led back along the discharge vessel and the two conductor components being differently polarized and being respectively sheatherd with an insulating covering to avoid flashovers, the long conductor component being sheathed with a first insulating covering located at the level of the free end of the short conductor component, the long conductor component being connected to a related supply lead and the short conductor component being connected to the other related supply lead, the connection taking place in the outer bulb characterized in that a high voltage endurance of more than 50Kv is achieved by covering partially the short conductor component with a second insulating cap at least a free end of the short supply conductor connected to the supply lead near the base is covered partially by a hollow cylindrical, in particular tubular, cap and int hat a first end of said cap directed toward the discharge vessel is open, and whereby this second insulating cap shields the end of the short conductor component against the first insulating covering. |
