| Abstract | An Improved Process for Manufacturing of Hard Capsules from Water Soluble Cellulose Derivatives of different viscosity grades, the said process comprisig the steps of i) dispersing the water soluble cellulose derivative in the hot pharma grade water and cooling the dispersion to effect the dissolution of the water soluble cellulose derivatives in the water ii) separately preparing a gelling agent solution and gelling aid / sequestering agent solution in pharma grade water and adding the said solution at a predetermined temperature, in the said water soluble cellulose derivative solution to give a capsule preparing solution iii) ageing of the said capsule preparing solution of step(ii) for about 8 to 20 hours preferably, 8 to 15 hours at a temperature of about 38 to 46ºC preferably 41 to 44ºC to raise its viscosity to its natural extent and diluting the said solution by pharma grade water to get the viscosity of the said solution in the range of 1100 to 1600 cps preferably 1200 cps. iv) inserting a dipping mould (capsule forming pin) into the capsule preparing solution of step (iii) at a predetermined temperature, then drawing out the dipping mould (capsule forming pin) and inducing setting of the capsule preparing solution adhering to the pin. |
